Sounded promising: Left us disappointed!

Posted Jan 22, 2016
Pros: Location / oceanfront room & balcony
Cons: To be greeted and checked-in in a timely fashion. Had to wait 20 minutes for the clerk to return at the desk. Sign said she would return in 5 minutes!
Location: Numerous excellent eateries and sightseeing nearby.
With the weather forecast to be breezy with daytime temps in the 50's & 60's and 30's at night, we felt that the offering of an indoor pool and spa would be a big plus. However, we arrived only to find the indoor pool and spa closed for renovations. The entire first floor of the hotel was also closed and being remodeled, with construction sounds and smells (glue and paint odors). There was also construction debris piled on the patio between the parking area and the beach entrance. Nowhere on the Expedia or Best Western sites did they warn or advise of the construction or pool closure. Our room did have a nice balcony overlooking the ocean and beach. We brought our folding camping chairs up to sit on. Next morning we found that ours was the only balcony without chairs on it. After complaining, the desk did have two chairs brought up to us, but, they were dirty and we had to wipe them down before use. When we opened the room's refrigerator to utilize it, we found that it had been left closed and turned off. The refrigerator was full of mold. Again, after complaining to the desk, they sent up someone to clean the refrigerator. On the first morning, we made coffee in the in-room coffee maker, only to find that we had only been provided one paper coffee cup. We had to seek out the housekeeper to obtain an additional cup. Again, the primary reason for choosing this beach hotel was its allure of an indoor pool &spa. We feel that we should have been notified of the ongoing repairs.

Nice with issues

Posted Jan 18, 2016
Check in was difficult as the reservation was coded incorrectly. On day 2, the cleaning staff decided to pocket my lotion. They also failed to take all the trash one day. With a kitchenette, there was more trash than a small can could take so we had to bag it ourselves. On our final day, we could a food bug crawling up the wall. Also, when the alarm went off in the next room at midnight (it was empty) it took 10 minutes to get it turned off. It is roomy and attractive. It is right on the beach, minutes from the Florida border and Mississippi was only about an hour away. Hall an hour from Ft Morgan.

Beachfront Hotel

Posted Dec 22, 2015
Pros: That it was on the beach and had beachfront rooms. Liked the big screen tv and the room decor. Loved being able to listen to the ocean waves.
Cons: Their indoor pool was closed but they were working on it. Everything else was wonderful.
Location: Lots of restaurants to choose from. Close to Tanger shops in Foley. A zoo to visit. Most of the attractions were closed due to time of the year.
Loved every minute of my stay at Best Western on the beach. Staff extremely friendly and helpful especially Michelle the 2nd shift desk clerk. She was super nice. First shift desk clerk was helpful as well when I couldn't figure out how to use the tv remote. Room service staff was very nice too. Will definitely stay here my next visit to Gulf Shores, AL and will recommend to my friends.

Nice beachfront hotel

I probably wouldn't pay summer rates to stay here but for about $100 a night in the fall it was great. Room was clean and beds were comfy. Nice indoor pool. Great views. No guest laundry, which would have been nice with a family of five staying several days.

Won't be back to this location

Posted Nov 22, 2015
Pros: nothing
Cons: rooms smell like must. i recommend removing your carpet. carpet in wet areas lead to mold and musty smells. a nice lay in wood floor would add warmth.
Location: you have to drive if you want to go anywhere decent.
indoor pool was cold and hot tub was just warm with so much chlorine our eyes started to burn so we had to get out. the hotel was empty due to the time of year we stayed and it just felt abandoned and cold. the staff was very nice despite this. for this price the place needs more ambience. even some nice music would help.
