Cosy hotel with lovely ocean view

We upgraded to a 55sqm suite with access to the Ocean Lounge - an improvement from the standard 27sqm room. Only downside is the hotel shuttle does not serve Odawara station on weekends which is a bit inconvenient.

Hilton Odawara aimed at escaping Japan

Pros: Size of the common areas. Reasonable size. Nice view of sunrise.
Cons: More shuttle services to Odawara and most of the isolated problems would go away.
Location: You don't leave the Hilton as it is a world on its own. However there are shuttle services to the near JR station.
Came from a Shinkansen at Odawara. I took the shuttle service to the Hilton. More shuttle services would be desirable, especially to Odawara. The hotel was undergoing renovation in the pool area so that was closed. This place is very isolated so don't expect it to be in the middle of a city for the Japanese experience. The breakfast buffet was typical western foods (Japanese style) and a small table of Japanese food. It was nothing special and it probably isn't worth the price, however since you have to leave the hotel using a shuttle to go outside it may be harder to have food anywhere else but at the restaurants. The room was nice but I probably wouldn't pay for the price again. It really felt like I was just paying for the brand. Even though there was nothing wrong with the stay, the Hilton Odawara is not within the city area but in the countryside.

Expected more for the price

Pros: Staff, service, restaurant, views, room comfort. All top-notch.
Cons: 24 hour access to pools and fitness center, more reasonable hours for kids' room, arcade, and karaoke rooms. It should be more kid/family friendly.
Location: Odawara is beautiful! We enjoyed spending time at Wanpaku land and enjoying the views of the ocean.
Part of the reason we forked over so much cash to stay here was because of the amazing amenities. We were traveling with four young children and were excited to take advantage of the pool, driving range, arcade, kids' play room, etc. But the operational hours were very limited. The pool and fitness facilities and kids' room didn't open until 9am. Nine A.M.!!?? Check out is at 11! Most kids I know are awake around 6am. Soooo... that was a lot of time to kill until we were able to use the pool and play in the kids' room and then we had to hurry and pack to leave and catch our shuttle back to the train station. It's a beautiful hotel with gorgeous views and very courteous and helpful staff who spoke acceptable English. The buffet breakfast was excellent. But the spa was mediocre compared to other hot spring baths around Japan. If we hadn't paid so much perhaps my expectations wouldn't have been so high, but we were a bit disappointed by the limited access to amenities. If we're ever back in the Odawara area I think we'll opt for a different hotel, perhaps Okada (it has a gorgeous spa).

Ocean view, great East + West combination

Pros: LOVED the baths. We are still talking about how wonderful it was to enjoy these at the end of a busy day. Service was top-notch. Very helpful staff.
Cons: More frequent --or later in the evening--hotel shuttles to Odawara station would be nice.
Location: Took hotel shuttle into Odawara for sight seeing (easy walk to good restaurants,Odawara castle); good connection point for trip to Hiroshima and Kyoto
We stayed 8 days and loved every moment: hot mineral baths (sometimes twice a day), sunrise views from our room balcony, nice buffets with Japanese and Western-style foods. Traveled with my family (6 adults) and we had a beautiful room (Western beds as well as futons), lovely view to most of the property. Very comfortable for us. We enjoyed lounging in the Ocean Lounge when we weren't otherwise occupied on the property. Super impressed with helpfulness of staff: Mr. Ito went out of his way to show us to a great restaurant in Odawara (and helped us order our meal) and when we struggled to find last minute hotel accommodations for a trip to Hiroshima/Kyoto, Ms. Watanable made several calls and found a great ryukan for us.

Great hotel with fantastic views and perfect spa

Pros: SPA, room, facilities
Location: The hotel is a bit out of the way, but they have free shuttle buses through the day, so it's okay. The Hakone area is fantastic.
We stopped here after some busy days in Tokyo and Kyoto and before we went on to explore Hakone. The surroundings are beautiful, we had a complimentary upgrade to a suite (yay), so our suite was very nice and well equipped (although it smelled VERY strongly like cabbage for some reason). We really enjoyed the spa part with lots of pools. It was a perfect stop-over for us, but would have been also great for staying a few more nights.

Nice hotel nut remote

Pros: Scenic setting with great views
Cons: They have a 'captive' market for dining, food buffet not very good
Location: Everything has to be accessed via shuttle bus to Odawara . Train from there to Hakone
Nice hotel but far from anything although they have a shuttle. Only one restaurant that has a buffet vey expensive. Staff were delightful

Decent hotel, no english.

Cons: At least one person who can help guests in English.
Location: Nothing within a short walk, but it's easy to take a hotel shuttle to Odawara. Lots of shops, restaurants, sightseeing to be done here.
Overall the hotel is ok. A bit run down and outdated. Rooms small and comfortable (standard twin room western). Staff does not speak English; this was the biggest obstacle. For the price and Hilton name, we expected a concierge, or at least someone who could help us plan an outing. Instead we were provided with outdated (2013) print offs of public transportation schedules with very little details. Relied on internet resources instead. Grounds are nice, lots to do if you are willing to pay and are interested in tennis, mini golf, bowling, and the like. Breakfast was good.

Fantastic resort

Pros: Amenities, service, clean and comfortable room
Cons: Nothing come to mind
Location: Good isolated area. Beautiful views but need to take a shuttle for any activities outside the hotel.
Fantastic resort. Great amenities. The service is outstanding. Restaurants are really good and we were upgraded in a really large room. Really comfortable beds. Location is isolated though.

Have stayed this hotel several times before the big earthquake. Always had good experience. Love the beautiful garden and admire the upkeep. Excellent service!

Relaxing stay

Pros: Surprised it is within a 30 min distance from Tokyo a concrete jungle.
Location: Visit the castle and the beach.
Great view with quiet relaxing atmosphere. We stayed on the week end and enjoyed it.
