First Timer

Posted May 31, 2016
Pros: The staff, cleanliness, willingness to serve and the personable hospitality. There are great little extras we didn't utilize, but are a nice touch.
Cons: In the tuck shop: dairy alternative, like almond milk, such a minor thing, but would be convenient.
Location: Downtown location is fantastic. Easy to walk to waterfront, great restaurants/pubs nearby. Was even able to get some almond milk at Pauls Fine Foods.
I planned a surprise trip to Nova Scotia for my Mom and I. I planned to have Halifax as our home base except for one night staying on the Cabot Trail. From our arrival, to giving instructions around the construction, to our welcome basket to giving us advice and again more instructions (we never stopped asking for opinions on restaurants, the surroundings, places they'd suggest etc). I even parked in the wrong spot of the parking garage (didn't notice the # on the parking pass), chose another one and they just changed it rather than asking me to move or even bringing it to our attention. That may have been different if another guest had been assigned to the spot I chose, however, they were cordial, polite, full of humour and very personable. I always make a note of staff names, this is the one time I didn't. I'm chalking it up to being preoccupied making it an easy, comfy trip for my mom... ...in reality, every member of the staff was excellent. The breakfast buffet is fantastic. I read prior to leaving, comments about the repetitiveness of the breakfast. Firstly, it's what is referred to as a continental breakfast, which for anyone who has ever had a continental breakfast knows this IS NOT a continental breakfast. The choices are numerous so there is no reason to have the same thing each day. The kitchen staff is helpful, friendly, always smiling and polite. We will be back to Halifax and this is where we will stay. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Noise

Posted May 10, 2016
The hotel was great but the noise level from the surrounding bars made sleep impossible until after 3:00 am.

Thank you for your feedback Brenda. We do greatly regret the disturbance you experienced during your time with us from a couple of our surrounding neighbours. Sometimes, due to our location in the downtown core, with many restaurants and bars nearby, there can be exterior noise issues that are beyond the hotel's control. Our property does however have a variety of suite locations, some with less or even no street frontage, which we would love to show you if are in Halifax again and give us this opportunity.

Awesome place to stay....

Posted Apr 18, 2016 on Hotels
As always, the stay was exactly as we expected. We've stayed there before and will probably return at some point! Can't say enough good things about the Residence Inn, the staff is awesome and very clean rooms, parking is just a little tight for my liking but it's still good though. Thank you for everything and will definitely recommend to our friends!

Great rooms. Inconvenient parking

Quick overnight stay. Great hotel overall and pretty good breakfast. Breakfast area is small and feels crowded. Parking is two or three blocks downhill.

Hotel is in great location to all downtown amenities. Staff was friendly, and the rooms were comfortable. Would stay here every time I'm in Halifax.

Nice hotel close to everything downtown

Posted Mar 21, 2016
Pros: Location, size of unit and breakfast
Cons: I would have liked an oven in the kitchen. I also would have liked to go on the rooftop patio but I was out of season.
Location: Museum, citadel, shopping, restaurants, movies, harbour are all walking distance. Car rental a block away.
Pleasant staff - decent breakfast. The only drawback for us was that the kitchen did not include an oven.

Hello Claude, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. In case you did not know, half of our one bedroom suites and all of our two bedroom suites do have ovens, should you be staying with us again in the future and require one. Thanks again and hope to see you back soon!

Lovely hotel in downtown Halifax

This is actually one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. The rooms are nicely laid out with full kitchenette. The complimentary breakfast was excellent
