the room was too small

Posted Aug 22, 2015
Booking through Expedia u get a block of rooms available and they are not good. There wasn't room for our luggage in the room. Luckily the grounds and hotel are very vast and u can sit in the common room and enjoy wine ect.

Perfect location for exploring the city

Posted Aug 21, 2015
It's right on the corner of Spring Garden Rd, the best shopping street in the city, with quite a few restaurants and a movie theatre too. It's across the street from the Public Gardens as well, and close to the Citadel, and a short walk from the harbour. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating. The room was very comfortable. I would definitely stay here the next time I visit Halifax.

Great location. Within walking distance to the boardwalk, across the street from the Citadel and Public Gardens. Walking distance to great restaurants, safe at night.

Convenient location across from park

Posted Aug 17, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Decor
Location: Park and fort nearby and waterfront is walkable.
Parking a little steep and rooms could a little more color, boring but comfortable, just not a single outstanding feature. For the location, which a fair distance from waterfront but walkable, it is a good deal, if you find a deal. Would not spend too much for this property.

Great hotel in downtown area

Great hotel, good location, excellent staff. Only problem was Internet connectivity--the hotle provides a free slow connection and charges for a high-speed connection, which we could not get to work.

Could not have picked a better hotel

Posted Aug 16, 2015
Pros: Everything
Location: The Public Garden across the street was beautiful. The waterfront is a short walk away and had museums, shops and Alexander Keith's brewery.
We had called a few days prior to our stay to set up a car to pick us up at the airport, Sam was a pleasure to speak to on the phone and even though we had never been there already felt like VIP's. A charming driver named John came to pick us up and it was clear we made the right choice in hotels and we hadn't even got there yet. I don't think we opened the doors once ourselves as there was always a courteous staff member there to greet us and show us in. The hotel is stunning and our room was spacious and comfortable. Our view overlooked the Public Garden so it was nice to look out at the trees that were taller than the floor we were staying on (4th). The restaurant was cosy, the food was delicious and again, the staff was exceptional. We will definitely be booking there when we go back to Halifax.

Nice central location

Posted Aug 14, 2015
Top shelf hotel with all the amenities and close to everything. Room was small but still excellent. Indoor parking at their $24/ day rate is a no brainer. Very convienent. Walk to everything. Very fun to sit in the wicker chairs out front. The only negative was the room had no fresh air circulation with a fan only or open window... so the AC kept turning on and off all night ...no "fan only" on the AC control...we didn't really sleep the best....but still had a great time. Above and beyond

Posted Aug 13, 2015
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Nothing that could be thought of at the moment.
Location: Perfect location. Public gardens across the street are awesome. Walking distance to everything in downtown Halifax- Art gallery waterfront etc...
We found The Lord Nelson to be one of the best hotels we have stayed at. Staff go above and beyond and show enthusiasm for their work and g out of their way to ensure your stay is excellent.
