Friendly staff but horrible rooms

Posted Oct 27, 2017
My daughter and I couldn’t even move in our room. The bathroom was beyond tiny and wasn’t very clean...

Room key debacle

Posted Oct 3, 2017
We stayed for for two nights in September. One day the room key did not work. All I received from the male desk clerk was some technical mumbo jumbo that was related t our booking. No apologizing just redirection please send your front end staff back to Hospitality School.

Good location

Posted Sep 28, 2017
Pros: Good location
Cons: Rooms could use a makeover as they are getting tired looking. Bathrooms especially.
Nice, historic hotel. Valet staff were excellent. Breakfast is not great, especially at this price. Coffee is actually awful.

Great location, close to the port and cruise ships

Posted Sep 27, 2017
Location: Downtown, Port of Halifax, Alexander Keith's Brewery, mall, bars/pubs, Dalhousie University, Point Pleasant Park, Atlantic Superstore (Grocery Store)
Hotel features a gym, bar, breakfast, shops and is close to the Port of Halifax. It is close to the downtown core, walking distance and many pubs and attractions are walkable from this location. The room was comfortable and fairly quiet, although I was in 743 and could hear the hum of the elevator that serviced the pool and gym. It wasn't unbearable, but if you're a light sleeper it could be an issue. This room did have a direct view of the harbour and was very nice to wake up to though! This hotel is old, but redone and quite nice with lots of history. Many events, conferences and banquets are held here - noise not at all an issue from this.

Close to all atractions nice staff but In my opinion older hotel , no closet, bathroom vanity way to high and small for the price you pay. They should just dowgraded and rename it and charge less, than it would be OK Merv M Toronto

Hi Merv, Thank you for staying with us and sharing your experience. I am sorry you did not feel value during your visit with us in Halifax. We are a historic property in downtown and are excited to share a full room renovation starts later this year. All rooms do have closets so unsure what happened there and our bathroom countertops are all at regular height. Hope to see you back again. Be well, John

Business meeting at Pier 21

Posted Sep 11, 2017
I chose to stay at this hotel because of the proximity to my meeting and I was pleased with the location. The hotel is situated near the Farmers Market and that was a great surprise. The hotel is very nice but it would need a bit of renovations to freshen up the rooms.

Great location but old and worn

Posted Sep 11, 2017
$300 Dollars a night for a very aged small room. Yes Harbour view but old windows and tough to get a good view. Breakfast was included in stay which was a plus. Great Restaraunt. What really irked me was paying $300 a night and then getting dinged with another $18 a night for parking. Lots of options in Halifax or just outside. No need to pay this for such a small old room. Mot even a microwave in room. Disappointed.

vintage hotel

Posted Sep 7, 2017
Pros: Staff...large, impressive lobby.
Cons: Overall cleanliness of hotel room.
Location: Somewhat near to wharf. Always worth a trip to the Citadel for fabulous views of the city.
Lobby area is acceptable, staff is helpful with excellent service, some waitstaff very slow. Rooms are very old, could be cleaner. Ours had black mold on the air vents.
