great location, very helpful staff

Posted Jun 23, 2017
Pros: beds and pillows
Cons: Carpet needed cleaning our room had some quite bad stains on it.
Location: Great location, easy to walk to all the attractions... even an Atlantic Superstore and liquor store half a block away
The staff were all really helpful, great location close to everything Parking was for a charge 18-22 per night but managed to park on the street after some suggestions from Lee out front. The beds and pillows really were dreamy... as advertised

Downtown Harbor Location with Via Rail Station

Posted May 30, 2017
Pros: I like the Pool & the downtown Location, walking distance to most of downtown Pubs and Restaurants.. Via rail station is here. as well.
Cons: the sink in the bathroom would not drain properly, Parking rate should be included for overnight guests.. some soda pop and juices in the fridge .
Location: the harbor market is across the street, Alexander Keiths, Citadel & Casino all close by. Garrisons Pub.. is in the rear at the Harbour.
I stayed here as I like to swim and the Hotel is connected to the Via Rail Station, I took the overnight "Ocean" from Montreal into Halifax and arrived late in the afternoon on Saturday. The room was on the 10th floor with a nice view of the Harbour.. very clean, staff was friendly & helpful.. the room service poached eggs, toast, bacon & coffee..was a rip off at $29?? the poached eggs were hard.. the pool & fitness room are nice.. although the pool is shallow for swimming 4 ft.. I stayed 2 nights, good location walking distance to the Citadel, Casino and harbor.. Alexander Keith's Brewery & Pub is near by & Garrison's.. I rented a vehicle from Avis.. on Graffton Street.. the parking at the hotel is $18 in the rear parking lot.. as I was flying out on my departure, I asked the front desk what was the best way to get to the Halifax airport, the front desk told me that there was a Hotel Limo at $56 or a Taxi at $60.. both I felt were expensive.. although the airport is a good 40 min. drive from downtown.. I looked online and found Maritime Shuttle Bus.. it leaves directly from the Via Rail station next to the Hotel.. the cost was $21 funny that that the front desk never bothered to mention it to me.. small details are always important on keeping loyal customers.. I guess the Hotel has some sort of arrangement with the limo shuttle.. perhaps they should drop their prices to that of Maritime Bus.. Nice 20 passenger Shuttle Bus. door to door.

Hi Peter, Thank you for staying with us at the Westin, we appreciate your business and your valuable feedback. We do charge for parking being that we are in the city as I know some properties outside the city do not charge for parking. We do not have a shuttle to the airport or any reciprocal arrangements with limos. Pricing for the airport run is regulated by the city of Halifax. You should have been told about the airport shuttle and I do apologize for that. Hope you come back and see us again if traveling back to Halifax. Be well, John

Wonderful staff, helpful and friendly

Posted May 18, 2017
Cons: Housekeeping only
Location: Location across from the Farmer's Market and the harbour. Attached to VIA Rail station and Maritime Bus made it easy for our train trip destination.
Attached to VIA Rail station and Maritime Bus, Westin Nova Scotian proved to be close to everything and a comfortable hotel from which to see all that we came to see. The Farmer's Market, right across the street, with vendors and wonderful views of the harbour.Room were clean and spacious and staff were friendly, helpful and very good at their jobs everywhere we went in the Hotel. From Roy's Lounge, with Scott and Liam to Elements on Hollis with Chef Bryan Corkery ( excellent dinner. Steak was the best ever eaten!!) this four star hotel earns every star.

Grand old hotel. Great location, right by Pier 21.

Posted May 17, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Hvac, better cleaning staff.
Location: Immigration Museum, Waterfront market, Restaurants.
Comfortable beds, windows fogging up between the panes, not nice. Opened window, quite loud due to heating a/c units just below. Confusing controls for hvac. Stayed for two nights and on the second night, no toiletries were left in the room. Close proximity to excellent restaurants, especially The Bicycle Thief, superb! Highly recommended!

short walk to market & pier 2

Posted May 12, 2017
In Halifax we encountered both the nicest & most helpful person we met on our trip to the east coast. Because I am handicapped I often use valet parking & "Luke" at this location was the best. He was friendly, knowledgeable & extremely helpful - made a great first impression & last with a warm goodbye.

Great location downtown

Posted Apr 7, 2017
Pros: Facility and staff were excellent.
Cons: The wifi was terrible. It only worked intermittently and was slow when it did. Don't stay here if you need to do computer work in your hotel room.
Location: This hotel is right downtown. Close to the Market, waterfront boardwalk, restaurants, and bars. Excellent location.
The hotel and staff were excellent. The internet connection was terrible.

Comfy beds and good location in Halifax.

Posted Apr 5, 2017
Was a very good place to stay. A little dated in the room but very clean. Walking distance to the pier and Immigration Museum and a great little pub called Henry House. Excellent location for anyone visiting Dalhousie University as it is just down the road. VIA Rail station is connected to the Westin and a Gas station and grocery store are right next door. Tim Horton's is short walk away. Gym was very small and hot tub was not very hot but the rest of amenities were very good. I would stay there again. Price was reasonable and hotel staff were helpful and friendly.
