the property was literally surrounded by strip clubs and scary drunk old men. now as much as i loved the clubbing culture around the hotel, the area felt unsafe for two 18 year old girls traveling. we were only there for one night, the hotel itself wasn’t bad and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. would only recommend if your going to germany to get laid and drink while only being a minute walk from your hotel.

Never Again
The worst of the worst. So thoroughly filthy I couldn't even shower. The shower facilities and toilets were disgusting. Not worth your health to stay here. It looked like there were groups of school-age guests, I hope they had a better experience than I did. Never again. The room that I got was not clean and very uncomfortable. The shared showers were so filthy I never took the chance of showering because there was no way I could feel comfortable with the abysmal condition they were in. The toilets weren't any better, some were broken, plugged and unusable with the urinals filthy and clogged. The response that I got from the hotel from my Google review showed a total lack of interest in any type of remediation to their disgusting accomodations.

Clearly a teenagers hang out. A really horrible experience. This place looks like an old office block and notice inside the room informs you "it's unsafe". The room I was given clearly showed repairs to the door and locks. Looks like it's been broken into many times. ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH THE PRICE. AVOID

Value for money
Was OK and you get what you pay for, which is value for money. This is not the Hilton and you are not paying 300 euros a night, so you will not get 5* service My only issue was finding the room as the signage is not very clear (i.e most rooms were in blocks for example 1000 to 1020) but to find Room 2101 you had to follow the signs for Room 2000. This was not explained at check in - this is only a minor issue. Coffee at the front desk is good value @ 1.5 euros for a big cup

A hostel in the middle of the red-light district
The hostel is in the middle of the official red-light district of Hamburg and I had a hard time locating the entrance, because it is in a tiny lane sandwiched between a shop selling BDSM items and a dance bar. The photos I have of the area (you bet I took photos) are not family-friendly and best left out. Also, it is worth keeping in mind that this hostel does not have lifts. It is essentially three separate buildings connected by passages and working as one hostel. There are rooms on the ground floor, which may be more accessible for people with disabilities. I had to change my room three times, as in the first room, the bathroom/toilet doors wouldn't close!!!. In the second room, the bathroom/toilet doors wouldn't lock. However, the staff were very polite and did their best to assist. The buildings are old and they were the first A&O hostels which had a combined bathroom/toilet and bath tubs!!! There is a Penny supermarket just down the corridor and Hamburg harbour is a few minutes away on the other side of the road. The S-Bahn station is a few (50-100) meters away from the hostel and there are trains running directly to and from Hamburg Airport. This is a hostel I would definitely recommend if you want to look at Hamburg's night-life district.

Wouldn't recommend, while the staff were nice the whole place was pretty seedy. In an alley behind a strip club with homeless people hanging around. The toilets were disgusting and the showers only had boiling water so it was impossible to actually wash. We originally booked for 2 nights but left after one.

The window was facing the main road and had southern aspect.It was extremely noisy and hot overnight. The window could not be closed due to the heat which accumulated during the day. There was loud music and shouts just outside the window throughout the entire night.Never stayed in a louder place.

Hostel room itself was clean and fine, although did only have 1 plug which was a bit annoying. The hostel itself was dirty/smelly and the corridors reminded me of a hospital. The hostel is situated in the Reeperbahn area which is great if you’re going on a night out, however not suitable for children as it is in an area filled with sleazy bars and shops and lots of homeless/drunk people around at all times of the day

The hostel is difficult to find and is in a weird area. We stayed here to be close to a concert but next time we will differently stay in a better hostel. Both of our beds were broken and I spent my night trying not to fall off the bed. It was super loud the entire night because drunk people would be screaming in the hallway. No staff was around to tell them to be quiet. It was understaffed as well and they seemed really stressed. The bathroom door did not close and had no lock. One of us had to keep the door closed from the inside as the other used the toilet. Overall do not stay here and this place should either be shut down or extremely renovated

Fantastic for the money that we paid. Group of 16 lads for a birthday. Location is perfect staff was helpful and polite not like 90% of the staff we encountered at other places over the weekend. I would go back here with a group time and time again but not if I went with My Mrs and kids. Massive thumbs up.

The staff is very nice and accomodating and they speak very good english. The toilets were without soap for two days, our room smelt of mold from being close to the showers and the showers were not in a very good condition. If you are looking for a cheap room in the craziest part of Hamburg, close to clubs, this is absolutely acceptable and I would recommend it. If you want a cozy and fresh room or if you plan a longer stay I would probably not recommend it. You get what you pay for as with everything but for the price I think it was nice!

A&O Reeperbahn was a top place to stay
A nice clean room, excellent location with everything I needed within seconds' walk. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Free internet was handy too. The only down side was no elevator, not great when my room was 3 floors up. Overall, though, a great experience and would recommend A&O if you are going to Hamburg.

Great hotel, great price.
The hotel is located exactly next to the infamous Pink Palace. It may seem not suitable for family but in fact it is one of the safest place in town, opposite is the famous polizei station in Reepabahn. S bahn service brings you directly to airport (only the first 3 carriages) Lots of food joints around the area and everywhere is walkable. We booked a room for 4 because we wanted bigger space to accommodate our young child. The private bathroom is a bonus and the room is located on ground floor which is excellent for us with baby strollers. Otherall, the receptionist is very helpful. We had a great time here.

More a hostel than a hotel. Located in red light district, which means there’s lots of late night noise. Don’t worry about feeling unsafe in the red light district, if you like lively neighbourhoods then this is the place for you!
