Gorgeous characterful boutique hotel
Gorgeous characterful hotel - the perfect blend of period features and modern comfort! We booked a standard double but must have been upgraded because we had an additional living room. The hotel is beautiful and has won an award for the most beautiful staircase in Hamburg. The breakfast was excellent and the service faultless. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again if I return to Hamburg.

Beautiful boutique hotel
Beautiful, very spacious and clean rooms. Located by the beautiful Alster lake. Very nice breakfast but a bit to crowded at 9:00.

Brilliant hotel
The rooms in this hotel are outstanding. They have been refurbished. Theist comfy bed I’ve slept in, in a hotel. Was superb. Only downside is the restaurant and reception isn’t upgraded yet but it’s still fab. The views over the lake are also great. I would recommend this hotel

Umbau bei Buchung nicht ersichtlich gewesen. Nur2*
Die Fotos stimmen überhaupt nicht mit der Realität überein. Die Zimmer sind in einem sehr alten Zustand. Das Hotel war eine reine Baustelle. Der Blick aus dem Fenster war zwischen 2 Wänden wodurch das Zimmer sehr dunkel war. Mit 4 Sternen hat dies nichts zu tun. Beim Frühstück gab es keine Heißgetränke wie zb Café Latte. Lediglich nur Filtercafe. Der Aufenthalt war nicht zufriedenstellend und hat meine Gäste die ich in das Hotel eingeladen hatte total enttäuscht. Schade

We had a very nice room. There was no easy way to get into the hotel a good many steps had to be climbed to get to the lobby and with women traveling alone suitcases are very heavy.

Once the hotel is done with renovations this will be a beautiful property we are sure ~ until, it’s fairly rustic. The day staff is wonderful, the lake view is unbelievable, and the area is quiet/safe. If you are comfortable with rough astetics and basic ammenities, the lake access point is wonderful.

Nicely renovated hotel with beautiful, big rooms. Very comfortable beds and pillows. The ongoing construction is basically finished and was not noticeable during our stay. Breakfast was good.

Lovely room and the receptionists could not have been kinder or more helpful. Because the hotel is undergoing renovations the main entrance and staircase look dusty and tatty but this was more than compensated for by the very fair price that we paid for our stay.

Renovations not indicated until booking was firm!
Room was under renovation. After I confirmed the room which didn’t allow cancellation, I received an email stating the hotel was under renovation. The room was nothing like in the pictures and I found out that the rooms shown were renovated rooms. When approached the staff, there were no new rooms left. The room was high and there was no AC. It was warm in the evening and gets uncomfortable in the evening. Of all the hotels I’ve stayed in Hamburg, this was one I enjoyed least. Breakfast was ok. Location wasn’t the best. No shops nearby. Had to walk a distance. Room floor was not very clean and was dusty presumably because it’s a hard floor without carpet.

The Hotel Alsterblick is an excellent facility with very responsive staff. We loved the location across the street from Lake Aussen-Alster. It's convenient to many excellent restaurants between the Central Train Station and the hotel. The walk around the lake (7.5 km) can't be missed.

Full of character on Alster
While the entire building is still in renovation (no surprise, you are warned by the hotel), the newly renovated rooms are really smart with high quality made-to-order furniture. . Some of them are really huge (I even enjoyed a free upgrade!). Location is one of the best in town and you may even find free parking spaces on the surrounding streets as well as good public transport links. (Temporary) lack of hotel facilities (bar, restaurant) are wildly compensated by the positive points above and the included in price breakfast is very good as well.

The hotel is beautiful, well it will be in future. Nowadays they are making maintenance work, so that the view is very poor, it’s loud, it’s not comfy at all. Specially they forgot to put a proper curtain on the bathroom window, as the workers can totally see you. Wait until the work is completed to visit the hotel, otherwise you will regret your stay in Hamburg,

Nice hotel while we explored the city
We enjoyed the cleanliness of the room. The staff was very accommodating and very professional and helpful. Also we had local TV so we could watch the World Cup in the room versus in the Pub so that was nice for us!

I was very surprised that the room did not look like the one advertised in the picture and on the web. The entire hotel was under construction and looked terrible. I received an e-mail after I had booked the hotel saying that they apologize for any inconvenience, but I had not idea at all about the extent of the construction and the age of the building and the appearance. I should have been advised right away of the extent of the construction, so that I could have chosen another hotel.

Parts of the hotel is under construction for renovation and we had been previously informed about this. The 3rd floor, where we stayed, had already been completely renewed. We enjoyed the comfortable, warm room. The staff were very friendly and warm. The breakfast was very satisfying. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience..

Staff is friendly, but construction ruins stay, to find parking is a fight, not very clean, breakfast buffet is good but room is small so no privacy as tables are close to each other, location is nice, next to park and Alster River, but beware of bumps, beautiful city being ruined by graffiti...

I arrived late, but the staff were great. The room was beautiful and the 1930's elevator was amazing in my view. The restaurant below the Hotel was gorgeous. It had a real rustic feel and a trendy vibe.

Great hotel
The 20m2 rooms are quite small, little space for a large suitcase and small bath. On my second stay I got a free upgrade to a larger room with couch and bathtub, which was fantastic! great high ceilings and good breakfast.

Excellent hotel in stylish neighbourhood
This was a great hotel with helpful, friendly staff. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean, with a balcony offering a view over the lake. The buffet breakfast was varied and plentiful.

Great location/building, disappointing service
The location of the hotel is lovely, right on the lake, and the building beautiful. My room was large, well appointed, with period features and very clean. I loved the old lift, still at its 1910 state! However the service was disappointing in several ways. The reception staff was not the friendliest, and one one occasion I was ignored for 10 minutes, without even a glance or a "I'm sorry, I will be with you shortly". I filled the form in the room requesting for extra amenities, I received only 2 out of 3 of them. Breakfast started at 7 (already it's quite a late start, especially if one has business appointments) but actually the buffet was never fully ready before 7.10-7.15.....so I had breakfast every day accompanied by the noise and bother of the buffet being sorted, and having to get up multiple times to fetch the various items arriving late. Definitely a bit shoddy for a 4-star hotel of that price. All in all, definitely above average, but not up to expectations

Lovely hotel on the Alster
We booked this hotel for short break in Hamburg and wanted to stay fairly central but still have a nice view. The location is great - the bus stop is a few minutes walk but a 20 minute stroll along the Alster also gets you right into the city centre. The hotel room was comfortable and quiet and a nice mix between the older tradition building and modern fixtures and fittings. The room wasn't overly spacious but was more than adequate for a short break. Breakfast was good with an adequate range of foods available including some vary pretty and delicious cupcakes. The only reason we didn't give the hotel a 5 rating was due to the fact that when we arrived the man on the desk although friendly was not a regular member of staff and after getting me to fill in the form simply gave us the key and told us to go to the third floor. The hotel as an old fashioned still lift with a key to operate and it would have been nice to be given some help. The receptionist on check out also was not overly friendly - I would have expected to be asked if everything was ok or something rather than simply handed the bill. Language was not a problem as I speak fluent German. Another small issue we had was that the bar/bistro was closed on Saturday due to a party and there was therefore nowhere for us to enjoy a drink before going out which we would have liked to do as we were meeting friends at the hotel for dinner.

This is a very nice hotel with really good staff. The room was fantastic, it was very spacious and immaculate. Very nice modern bathroom too. The breakfast in the morning was of a high standard. We really did enjoy our night in this hotel. The only drawback is no guaranteed parking. That really is the only negative thing I can say about this hotel.

This hotel is in a beautiful location at the edge of the lake. Transport to City Centre a few minutes round the corner. As well as mini bar and snacks the hotel also provided kettle and tea/coffee -a first for any of our stays in Europe Staff couldn't have been more friendly/ helpful. Our safe malfunctioned and was fixed striaght away. Would definitely recommend this .notel to any visitor to Hamburg My husband was particularly enamoured by the lift
