The staff kept ringing from reception and hanging up from 10am onwards as it was obvious that they wanted to clean the room. Checkout was at 12pm, so we were by all means in our rights to still be using the room. We had a late one the night before and the constant ringing and trying the door was so so annoying.

Hotel was next to the railway station, so was easy to find and very much within walking distance; however I was not affected by any noise or disturbance from the station. The underground system was in the same station, so getting around Hamburg was very convenient. Staff were very helpful and friendly and professional.

Nice small hotel very close to Altona Station
This is a nice small hotel just 100 meters from Altona Station where all of Hamburg's transit connects, and Altona's cafes and shopping are a few steps further. Our room was large and comfortable with a comfy bed, sitting area, desk for working and fast wifi. There is coffee making and refrig, too. Two options are available for breakfast - small one with pastries and coffee and a big buffet with lots of choices. Both are yummy. The staff are friendly and helpful.. We enjoyed our stay!

The room was smallish but very clean and definitely adequate. Given the price of hotels in Hamburg it was excellent value for money. It was also a good location for transport links to the airport and for travelling around Hamburg. It was close to the rail, tube and bus stations.

Tiny rooms. No lifts. Great location. Clean
Very small room. Even smaller bathroom. No lifts so you’ll have to haul your bags up the stairs. Reception is at the hotel next door. Friendly staff. Wifi not good. We didn’t have breakfast.

The bed was like a cloud
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Great location, very clean, and the bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. I wanted to take the bed home with me.

Too warm for comfort
Lack of air conditioning and being so close to the rail station, meaning that the noise from an open window was undesirable, made for a warm and uncomfortable stay. For the money; I would have expected air conditioning as standard and would have managed to get some sleep over the two nights.

Very convenient location near the Hamburg-Altona station. Although it can be a little noisy in the evenings, the noise level usually goes down by 11 pm.

The hotel room was simple but clean. The bathroom was big and had ample towels for 2 of us. The tv gave only 3 channels all in German. No toiletries in the bathroom. Check in and out quick and efficient.

Our best stay in hotel
Is the best 2,5 star hotel that you can imagine.Should be 4 star for sure. Best location,quite and cozy next of S-bahn station ,very close to the famous fishmarket ,only some minutes walking. The hotel is very clean the breakfast fantastic and the staff very helpfull and kind and they helped us a lot for tips where to go.All day, they have in the reseption christmans sweets and to the lobby free coffee and tea. We will recommend to all friends that they will go to Hamburg city.

OK but....
Very difficult to get to as Sat Nav couldn't get us round road works and one way systems. Had to park in station car park up road - expensive. Room small and shower/toilet very cramped. Hamburg not inspiring although useful for boat trip to Heligoland. Breakfast good. Hotel central seemed to be an annex of a Great Western with different name up the road. Although they seemed to come to us for breakfast. Not obvious where reception was on arrival at Hotel Central as in the other hotel up the street. useful for one night business trip not tourist. Once we found reception they were helpful and lent umbrellas - very useful.

Thank you very much for that detailed and helpful feedback. Indeed the Nav have difficulties in getting around the road works. Guests coming by car via the A7 we recommend to contect the reception for information to get to the hotel. You are right, even if the Hotel Central is a two star Hotel all public areas and services have the comfort of a three star Hotel, because all guests may take advantage of them - the guests from Hotel Central and the guests from the Best Western Hotel. We are glad you enjoyed your short trip to Hamburg and we hope to welcome you again soon.

Hotel near Altona
I was looking for a hotel next to Altona translation to have easy access to the local public transportation system. The hotel is together with the Best Western next door. Reception is in the Best Western, breakfast in the Hotel Central. Makes getting to the rooms a bit strange; take the elevator to the third floor, then walk a long hallway and take the stairs down. Breakfast was very good, rooms were large, everything is clean. Beds are a little short (2m, I am 195cm). The rooms were surprisingly quiet with the windows closed. Not so with windows open.

Reasonable price
Chose hotel because of price and location. Ticked those boxes. Central Hotel is an annexe of the Best Western next door. You check in there and walk along the corridor through to the Central - you will see the décor change. Room dated, bathroom had a strange odour about it the first night but better second. Still clean and functional. TV didn't have a signal the second night.

Convenient to centre of Altona area of Hamburg
Location right by train station and very close to the centre of Altona. If you are staying in Altona, once a independent city, it is fine but a bit far (15mns by metro) to the centre of Hamburg. Very good and complete breakfast but everything else was just average.

Nice hotel
I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I had booked here at the last minute based on good reviews, although I had second thoughts since it is near a train station (Hamburg Altona). But the street it's on is quiet and clean, there is a good Turkish restaurant at the corner. My stay was 2 nights, both were very quiet (in many hotels, there is usually an annoying combination of scraping noises and footfalls from upper floors). There is some noise from the trains and announcements, but not an issue with the windows closed. The room was spotless, generally what I expect from hotels in Germany or Switzerland. The bathroom was a bit cramped, which is also typical for European hotels. Location next to Altona station was great for catching an early train to Munich (since the train stops here before the main Hauptbahnhof, there are more empty seats that haven't been reserved). Staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely consider this hotel again if I am staying in the Hamburg-Altona area.

Adequate accommodation for a short stay
I have stayed here on every visit to Germany over the past 4 years. The hotel is exactly what is says - centrally located, very handy to a good variety of shops, a couple of lovely Xmas markets and the metro and train station. The room was small and comfortable, just suitable for a single person to base themselves at. I found all staff members, with the exception of one on reception on one occasion, to be very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately this one staff member decided I did not know what I was talking about when asked if they could help me get the address to supply to the taxi, of my next location to stay. However, I had stayed there many time before so knew exactly what I was talking about... when they finally looked it up for me, as I was firm but insistent, there was no apology forthcoming, but just a wave of the hand for me to go away. I found this distressing as I was a female travelling on my own. Upon me leaving she was very friendly, I would like to think this was an apology. I would however, still recommend this hotel to others. I don't feel that the one instance on this visit out weighs all the good and I am happy to stay there next year.

Very comfortable hotel. Single room quite small but suitable for my short stay. Centrally located to amenities and within walking distance to many attractions. Train station very close. Staff were very helpful to direct us to the Xmas markets and sight seeing attractions.

Ideal location but.......
I decided to stay at this hotel due to it's location which is right next to Hamburg-Altona Railway station as I was intending to go traveling by rail. Although the room was clean and cleaned every day, I had to check at the Best Western which I had already walked past as there is no reception at the hotel. Once checked in and inside the hotel, I found there was no lift to any other floors. Therefore I had carry my luggage, a large suitcase up four flights of stairs to where my room was. Which is not ideal if you have mobility issues. Apart from three staff having a meeting the hotel was deserted. Otherwise I couldn't fault the hotel for it's cleanliness or location

It was a little difficult to get to the hotel room through the corridors. We were slightly confused at first, but found the room. The room must have been occupied by a smoker before we arrived. It smelled pretty bad like stale cigarette smoke. The windows also didn't have a curtain to shut out the light. We had the window open nearly the whole stay... and heard the train station when we slept during the day. Brakes of arriving trains, and announcements about train departures. But these occurred nearly once every 1/2 hour. The room was decent value for the price. We were satisfied. Also, the self-serve breakfast was great, complete with fresh fruit for 11 Euro.

Excellent location!! Altona HBF Station is very near to Cental Hotel - just 2 minutes away. Very convenient!! Getting to Hamburg HBF Station takes up to 10 minutes by S-Bahn or U-Bahn train. The room was nice and comfortable yet the price is reasonable. I will come back to this hotel again.

Room was clean. Proximity to Hamburg-Altona train station is very convenient. Great bus and train connections. I think the noise from the station was not a problem either. You can close the windows to make it absolutely quiet if you are on the side of the hotel near the train station. Breakfast cost 9 Euro, but it was excellent!

Tiny room, smoke smell, noisy location.
Room was too hot (although there was a fan). Opening the window it was very nosiy as close to a main train station. There is a sign saying that you can get earplugs for free, didnt try that though. Have to go through the nextdoor hotel (best western) for yourkeys etc. Walking from BW to this hotel is like walking from West to East Germany. Lights in the corridoors didnt work in the Central Hotel but they were ok in the BW. Alex
