Historic and well maintained hotel on the harbor

Posted May 23, 2017
Pros: Views, historic tavern, comfortable and beautiful restaurant, friendly, competent service, well maintained.
Cons: Some significant noise from the U3 above-ground train very near to some of the rooms.
Location: The main ferry warfs are right down the stairs in front of the hotel. The Planten Blumen gardens are only a short walk as is some large stone dude
This historic hotel has been added on to at least a couple times so rooms will certainly vary. My room in the tower was spacious and triangle shaped but with a very nice view of the harbor. The restaurant has an even better view. Breakfasts in the restaurant are top quality typical European with pastries and cold cuts and all that. Also eggs and bacon and other hot stuff. If arriving by train (S1 line comes direct from the airport to here), expect to have to carry your luggage up some significant stairs between the station and the hotel. The good news it the walk is just a couple hundred meters.

Great location, close to the harbour

Posted May 19, 2017
Cons: The location
Perfect location, but make sure you don't book a room in the lowest price category otherwise you will be accommodated in a room that is so small and dingy, and depressing. There is also no wardrope in these rooms - so can't really hang your clothes up anywhere other than on a couple of hooks above the mirror.

Clean, convenient, good value and oozing character

Posted Mar 11, 2017
Pros: Clean, comfortable and the maritime theme.
Cons: I suspect the lack of air-con might be an issue in the summer for some.
Location: Easy access to the metro station or a 20-30 minute walk into town.
Catch the S1 train from the airport direct to Landsbrucken (not the S11 as you'll have to change) and the hotel is conveniently situated 150yds or so from the station, a few steps up from the promenade. Lovely, clean hotel with all maritime artefacts here and there. Beautiful clean room and spacious - and if you're lucky enough you get a view of the harbour. Excellent comfortable, firm beds.

Was Booked into a smoking room, room stank, minibar had beer filled with water, unfriendly service by reception staff, will never return to this hotel, hotel.com staff were very helpful with addressing these issues and that's why I will book with hotel.com again, but never this hotel in Hamburg

not really a 4 star hotel

it's OK and in a good location....but doesn't really warrant it's 4 star status. it's a good 3 but for the cost and rating I expected more.

Well placed hotel, close to railway station .

Posted Dec 2, 2016
Pros: It's position and the friendly staff.
Cons: Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be nice. We felt that 5 euros for the bottled water was a bit much!
Location: Location is great, easy to visit the Dom,Reeperbahn,Christmas market,Fischmarkt and catch the hop on hop off bus tour.
This hotel is clean and cosy, the staff were all very helpful. There is a maritime bar and an upmarket restaurant. We could walk to most of the places we wanted to visit. Our room faced the harbour and the view was always changing.
