Apart from its convenient location to the central station, and a friendly reception staff , there is little else to recommend about this property. Old facility , cosmetic improvements only, warm room -so windows had to be left open, and the street noise endured.

Clean, friendly and convenient although poor sleep
Hotel Terminus is exactly what the name suggests. It's literally 2 minutes walk from the main station in Hamburg and convenient for travellers on short stop-overs. The hotel is on a busy street with lots of kebab shops and people all over the place although it is very secure and you get buzzed in through the front door. Reception was friendly and welcoming and the room was clean and spacious for the price. Shower was ok and the bed was big (2 singles pushed together). I did have 2 issues with this hotel. The most important being the bed. Although the bed was ok, if a little hard, the pillows were awful and about as supportive as a wet towel. I really didn't sleep well on the 2 nights I was there as I just couldn't get comfortable. The other thing worth a mention is that there is a safe in the room but you have to pay extra to use it! If it's already there then it just seems a money making exercise to charge extra for using it, and an additional deposit for a key! Overall it was alright for the price but I wouldn't stay there again as the hard bed and useless pillows made for a very poor nights sleep.

Comfortable and Convenient
Hotel Terminus is a fairly basic hotel. The room was pretty cosy. But all the facilities were immaculately clean. The service was prompt and friendly. The breakfast buffet was elegant and tasty. 24-hour reception was very convenient. The location was great—the area around Hauptbahnhof is not necessarily the nicest area in the city, but it is close to everything and has a brilliant 20-minute train connection to the airport.

The room was as promised, functional and the staff were very good. Access was limited to a very small elevator but no air conditioner which made the room quite hot. Very good location in relationship to the train station(hence the hotel name).

Great location hotel for those on a budget.
Well located value for money hotel. The staff are amazingly friendly. Very close to the main station so ideal for late arrivers (like us) . It's not plush so don't expect too much.

This is an odd little hotel. I had a single room which was small and in need of renovation. That said, it was lean, functional and comfortable enough with an attached and renovated bathroom. The elevator stops are halfway between every second floor so there is always half a flight of steep stairs to negotiate. The staff are helpful and friendly, the wifi signal ok and I would reakfast good value. I would probably choose to stay there again.

The hotel manager was the best part of this hotel location. He was super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also pleasing but the location and comfort of this hotel was disappointing. The neighborhood the hotel was located did not offer our family a safe feeling. Very multi-cultural and a lot of street noise.

Boys weekend in Hamburg
The hotel has a good location just across the road from the railway station. The hotel itself is fine, with helpful staff. There were 4 of us in a room which was adequate for us. We had breakfast each morning which was ok if slightly limited in choice. There are plenty of nice bars & restaurants around the corner facing the station. We would stay here again if in Hamburg.

Two days at Terminus!
I spend 2 days at this hotel in my way back from South Africa. I have been in Hamburg several times but this was my first time at Terminus. It was very nice! Big room facing the street, no noise and non-smoker. The reception gentlemen are very accommodating. The hotel is very close to the Hamburg Central Station and the Central Bus Station, both right across the street. Please keep in mind it is not a luxury place but for 2-3 days it is OK. Breakfast is extra.

It's o.k, as long as you expect budget. Ive stayed in many around this area as I pass through 2-3 times a year. They are all pretty similar at this kind of price. Reception guy was nice and efficient. Area is not good though, not at all, and has declined every time I've been over the last decade. O.k, at the right price at least

Convenient budget hotel for Hauptbahnof
I booked hotel Terminus as i required a room near to the train station for an early train to the airport. At check in I was moved to another group hotel,the Lumen, as I was advised a "Stag" group were booked in and it was likely to be noisy. The hotel was approx 75 yards further along the street, which was only a minor inconvenience. Consequently my comments relate to the Lumen not Terminus, although the exterior / entrances were almost identical.The entrance is not particularly inviting, with a locked door opened by buzzing the receptionist and a steep stairs to the first floor, but the room was excellent value, particularly as my rate included breakfast.

The hotel accepted to change a 'non refundable' reservation one day, thanks for that ! We had a room with shared bath and toilet at 5th floor, and it was not as bad a choice as feared. Nice and quiet room, no noise from the street up here. Beds were softer than we prefer. Location on a party street, but at the start of the street and tehrefore accessible from city/station without having to walk through the crowds further down the street.

Good budget stopover. I must highlight the absolutely excellent service.It made the limitations of the accommodation much easier to take. Nothing wrong, but a little tired and weathered. Neighbourhood is "colourful" but that is all part of the fun of Hamburg. Clean and well managed!

Nice Budget Hotel Near Hamburg Central Station
If you're seeking an economically-priced basic hotel near the central train station, this is a good choice. The rooms are comfortable. Internet and a decent buffet breakfast are included in the room rate. There are several restaurants within the area as well as a supermarket. If possible, request a room the does not face the front of the building. On weekend nights, there tends to be street noises that occur until about midnight - which may interfere with sleeping.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. The beds are comfy and the white linen fresh and clean. The breakfast is very nice too. It is a basic type of hotel and very adequate, safe and conveniently positioned for touring round Hamburg although it is in a pretty sleazy neighbourhood! I would go back to this hotel, knowing that behind the front door is a well cared for and pleasant hotel. Great WiFi.
