We chose NH Hamburg Altona because it had good reviews, and was well located on a major bus route that links to the S-Bahn (if you have a car, parking is available onsite for a fee). Front desk service was fast and efficient, and the room, although not particularly exciting, was spacious and clean. if you would like to keep your stay green, housekeeping provides free bar drink vouchers if you defer your room cleaning. Although we did not use the restaurant, it appeared to offer a good selection of breakfast items. If you need to check in early, or check out late, the front desk provides a secure room for storing your luggage.

The property itself was great. Very modern, clean and sufficiently equipped rooms. Staff were friendly and funny. The little self service shop by the door was a cute little bonus. However the hotel is let down by the lack of things to do in the surrounding area. Unless you drive or use public transport it’s not the best for walking. Overall a great hotel but inconvenient area.

Outstanding service, excellent hotel
From the moment I stepped in to the lobby, to the moment I left, I was made to feel like a valued guest. I love how the hotel had free drinks and ice creams in the lobby as you waited for check in. The greeting at front desk was warm, friendly and genuine – (annoyingly, I can't remember her name); but she said I was in time for the sauna and if I wanted to use it in the morning she was sure they could open it for me. The room was impeccably clean, the bed was super-comfy, it was so quiet and the shower was hot and powerful. Also amazing value for money at less that 100 euros. Highly recommended.

Nice place too stay. Front desk staff was great and Sarah and Bea at the bar were phenomenal. Dinner was nice but we didn't have the breakfast buffet although I did look at the food and there was a nice selection of food. Only reason I didn't rate excellent across the board is because the beds are a little hard for our liking but they are typical German beds with duvets.

Basic but clean
Bit like a premier inn. No soap just plastic dispensers for shower and sink which I really dislike. There was a sharp lump on the laminate floor too. Fruit in reception a nice touch. Scandalous price 19 euro for breakfast when all I want is a cup of tea and couple of slices of toast. We didn’t bother paying for it. It worked out with breakfast elsewhere and lunch and a coffee cheaper than breakfast.

Mediocre experience considering brand and price
Overall nice hotel and probably suffering due to the Covid-19 situation, but considering the price tag and reputation, it was rather disappointing. The hotel seemed worn down; from faded paint of the walls/ceiling to the doors - even the keyholder in the room fell off when we put the key in. Just didn't seem that premium considering we chose to update to the VIP rooms. We don't have a direct comparison of the different rooms, but it wasn't just as nice as we've hoped for. The location, near-by the highway is great for a quick stay.

I Pre paid for a room with King size bed. Went up to Room, it had 2 Twin size beds. Went back down to Reception and then changed to King bed. No Problem. The male receptionist saw that I was utilizing Crutches. The second room had a 2 foot high, (60 CM) walled Tub, with Shower. Quite Difficult for an individual utilizing Crutches to go in and out of. The Next day, the Cleaning Lady, Without Knocking/Unannounced, Opened the door and Stepped in. We brought food with us, since it was stated the Room had a little refrigerator. The Refrigerator was Inoperational. We spoke to a female receptionist and she stated that it could not be repaired/replaced since it was National Unity day in Germany. October 3, 2019. We were told, it would be taken care of in the morning. Never showed up. The room was good, except the Bathroom had a little Mold along Caulking. They are remodeling and currently have no Bar to sit at. They do have chairs in the lobby area to sit.

We were given a room that had not been cleaned after the previous guest had moved out that morning. We had a wedding to attend and ended up changing into festive clothing in this dirty room. Very disappointed

NH Hamburg Altona
NH Hotel Hamburg, Altona, is not centrally located for sightseeing. There was metro and bus stops within 5-15 minutes, depending on destination. Had to take taxi to and from Central train station. Rooms typical "European" small and Spartan, but serviceable. Two twins push together for a double bed. Clean except for floor, which left bare feet dusty. Need swifter instead of vacuum on non-carpet floor . Had nice patio area to sit outside. We didn't eat there so cannot comment on food in restaurant or breakfast. Seemed too expensive to us.

This was our second visit to NH Hamburg Altona. We had the same room and were delighted to see the “welcome back” message written on the bathroom door and the fruit basket on the table. Thank you to the person(s) who was so thoughtful! Our room was clean and comfortable. Dinner at the restaurant was really good. The staff were professional and the food excellent, making a quality experience.

The hotel presents well and the staff at reception are friendly and give necessary information. The room is a good size and has recently been renovated. There’s a parking garage for a fee and free parking around the outside of the property. If these spaces are all occupied a space can always be found in the adjacent street. There are good public transport links close to the hotel.

Not the experience on expects in a 4 star hotel. Initially, they assigned us to a room on a floor undergoing construction. Insulation was lacking and we could hear both our neighbours (during the night) and the construction workers (early the next morning). We moved rooms and found ourselves in a room with a cracked toilet, bathroom fixtures falling off the wall, and a very worn floor. Service was also lacking. Dirty coffee cups were left by room service, towels were taken away and not replaced, and no hand soap was provided.
