The one thing we found that was slightly off-putting was that the photos on-line are designed to make the hotel look new, modern and spacious, when in fact it's a beautifully restored older building with smaller bedrooms, tiny elevators, and lovely winding staircases. There's enough modern hotels go around. Please brag about this lovely unique hotel on the waterfront of the Aussen-Alster See.

The cleanliness was here was unfortunately subpar in the bedroom, even the glass near the bed was stained. Coupled with the deteriorating wall paper and hand stain on the mirror, it did not make a confident impression. I was only in and out for a night, I did not have breakfast here. The staff was accommodating and professional. I liked the easy access to beverages and snacks for purchase in the lobby.

Reception staff are fantastic, very efficient with good English. Nothing is a trouble. The room had several defects that should have been obvious to the house staff but the room was otherwise clean and welcoming. A very enjoyable overnight stay.

The hotel was quite dated. Room was large and bedding/towels were clean but the couch was stained/ripped and the furniture/decor were old. There no amenities really and not worth it for the price overall.

The hotel was lovely and situated in a great area because I used to live in Hamburg. It was easy and lovely to walk into the centre or get a train to go elsewhere. The staff were excellent.

Hotel by the lake
Lovely hotel right by the lake, in a nice area with lots of bars/restaurants. Hotel is a little dated but the room was huge and very comfortable. Overall, I would recommend this as a decent mid-range hotel.

Mixed feelings
A good bed is the most important and that was allright. However a very thin pillow was provided, and no additional one in the wardrobe. The shower was small, for me ok but my husband is a big guy, he could hardly move around. the soap provided was unpleasant, it made my hands feel very dry. The room was quiet because it was at the courtyard, so that was good, we even could open the window during the night. But the overall location of the hotel is, thought at a beautiful spot at the Alster, very noisy. There is a lot of traffic there. The staff was kind and helpful and made us feel welcome. So mixed feelings about this place.

I love the place for its location and authenticity. Some floors have a lingering smell that’s a little off putting, The plumbing can be tricky at times, in particular the shower water temperature. The staff is friendly, to the extent northern Germans can be at times. The breakfast buffet is extensive and affordable. The downstairs restaurant is charming. The Hotel is across the Alster, within 5 walking minutes of the Lange Reihe stores and restaurants, 20 mins from the central train station. We will be back!

Great place, 15 min walk downtown, 5 min by e-bike
The staff was fantastic, they went beyond on what one would expect. The room could use an air conditioner, but otherwise perfect For our stay.

Great Location, Convenient for Eating Out
Excellent location right on the Alster Lake, ideal for jogging or walking. Beware of wishing for a lake-view room as there’s a busy truck road between the hotel and the lake and the traffic is constant and noisy. Rooms facing the courtyard would be more preferable. The hotel is about 15 min walk from the main train station (Hbf), but only 100m away from a bus stop (St.Georg) served by the frequent buses, no. 6 & 17, connecting to Hbf and the city centre. Haven’t tried the hotel breakfast as the surrounding area is full of restaurants, cafes, bakeries, pubs, ice cream shops and supermarkets. The hotel itself has lots of single rooms and I also stayed at one. They’re very reasonably priced, very compact, small but well designed with space well utilised. Service is efficient and friendly. Room is clean. All in all, a stay that exceeded my expectations, so highly recommend it, and would stay again for my next visit.

Location and breakfast
The location is quiet, it takes 15 minutes of walking from the Hamburg Hbf. The breakfast is a bit expensive 15€ per head.
