Everything is great just not sure why the Lift is not responding to my Door Card and i have to get service staff to tap for me every single time until i check out... the service staff attempted to resolve the issue multiples time but to no avail

Check in staff were very welcoming and friendly. They stored our luggage until check in time and provided good information about what to see and do in the city. The rooms were very nice, with heated floors in the bathroom.

Staff attitude is nice but rest of the hotel does not deserve a 5 star at all… - they made me pay the full amount when we checked in where they say they are just putting the money on hold. And let me pay separately the full amount again when doing check out. And says that I will get the first payment back in 5 days, now it’s already 10days. Per my bank I won’t get the money for another 20days. This is absolutely nonsense. They claim the first payment is for in case I do not pay at the end, but then why not just claim the full amount you already charged on my card? And I said clearly at the beginning just book the full amount. - Interior very old. bed is quite stiff not comfortable at all… room very dry. TV has chrome cast option but not working. Called reception multiple times no response. This hotel after 8 no one picks up the call - when we checked in, no handsoap in the bathroom… we asked to clean the room as there are some excess of water. they took away the bath mat and bath towel and did not replace with new ones, even after housekeeping the next day. Only one bottle of water, no new ones the next day either. Will never come again

Stayed 2 nights on weekend. 1. cheap pillow and comforter 2. comforter is thick and the room temperature is high and can't lower over 3 degree. 3. server didn't really clean the room. Towel, bath gel, toilet paper, bottle water... didn't replace 4. someone knocked my door at 11am without any reason 5. called reception twice but nobody answer nor call back 6. talked to their manager and she said their GM will contact me, but nothing happened, thought it's only 24 hours. Generally speaking, a hotel with poor management and far beyond a 5 star hotel.

Front desk staff on multiple days need better training on customer services and need to be more knowledgeable on the area etc. when it comes to concierge services. Also, nearby construction knocked out the internet for the whole hotel and nearby blocks for over a day. Besides apologies, there was no action taken to alleviate the guests’ inconvenience. They begrudgingly gave me two water bottles instead of charging me €6 each but I had to make a point to them before they gave it to me for free. Great hotel and area. Room temp. Can’t me adjusted more than /- 3°C aka like being coughed on by a mouse in the summer.

Five star hotel with zero star service and design.
Room was not ready at 3 PM (when we were checking inn). We asked for interconnecting rooms at the time of booking and called later as well to confirm, yet they gave us two separate room. After few hours, we called again to ask for interconnecting room and they gave us so we had to move our luggage from separate room to inter connecting room. We have unpacked by that time so we had to repack everything. AC in room number 324 was not working, and it was boiling hot in Hamburg and so was our room. Rooms have many design fault, wardrobe opens up on the room enterance, which is very wrong. Shower area was poorly made, water was coming out on the floor when taking a shower, there was no door in the shower area. I can go on and on but trust me, do not book this hotel.

Nice hotel overall and my room (Deluxe Room) was spacious. In the middle of the night around 11:30 pm, my towel heater started to make a very loud banging noise. I called the front desk and a rather cheerless desk manager with poor English or German language skills came up to look at it. He was able to fix it by turning on the radiator in the hallway (I guess they were connected). When I told him that this should not happen at a 5-star hotel with the cheapest room around 450 Euros a night, he walked off shouting in German: I fixed it for you. In the US, a refund would have been offered, however, not at the Steigenberger in Hamburg.

Would Recommend!
This hotel has just gone through a brand new renovation. I don't even think that anyone had stayed in my room before me. The staff was very helpful and all spoke English. It's located downtown at a great location walking distance to restaurants and shops. The breakfast buffee was a bit pricy at 33euro/person - but the food was amazing and they had bottomless mimosas, so not complaining.

Worth the stay
Very nice room, large, well furnished, very clean. Bathroom very nice looking and clean too. Lobby a little small. Bar in the basement was a little small but with great service.

10/10 - terrific renovation, location & service!
Professional, friendly and accommodating staff from check-in to check-out. The renovated rooms are terrific and do suit the international traveler including multiple USB plug-ins at desk and bedside. Wi-Fi is terrific, plenty of storage for suitcases and spacious wardrobe. Large walk-in shower. Close to everything from (high-end) shopping, restaurants, cafés and public transportation. F&B is a bit limited currently but offers a beautiful breakfast buffet and great lunch & evening menu. The new restaurant will open Spring 2023. Bonus in December: Terrific Christmas market right in front of the hotel. Overall 10 out of 10 experience - highly recommend!

We loved our stay here. Perfect location for seeing Hamburg. The newly renovated rooms are excellent and the food (we had breakfast and dinner at the hotel) was excellent. We were really impressed and would definitely stay again!

Currently being renovated!
The hotel is currently undergoing renovation. This wasnt mentioned on hotels.com when i booked. No hotel bar, temporary checkin desk and breakfast in what felt like a conference room. If i had known it was being renovated i would have booked elsewhere as this is not a cheap hotel. Avoid whilst renovations are taking place.
