Dated in everyday but in an excellent position

Posted Sep 4, 2016
Pros: Locate, five minute walk into Lyndhurst, access to the New Forest opposite.
Cons: The property needs totally refitting and replaning.

Sadly another review about an English hotel which verges on the Fawlty Towers model. we have a choice of this, one that looks like a faded fake stately home or the new business hotel model. Non Metro England hasn't caught up with the American, european or eastern boutique hotels. i.e. no A/C, 70s furniture, no HD TV, soft bed & pillows, dirty nets, etc... The property needs totally refitting. It's clean and bright but bland & dated in layout and fixtures. The staff are pleasant but suffer form the 'it's not my job' attitude (haven't grasped multi tasking). They were a few things not working in our room, so we wrote a list and left it on the side intending to discuss with reception. When we came back form breakfast the room was made up and it was gone! However, nothing happened. we were going to mention it but checked out early as the weather turned bad. We were put off by the restaurant, as when we looked in the floor & tables was covered in the results of 'family dinning'.

You can see the age of the hotel

Posted Aug 22, 2016
Pros: nce and quiet area, good parking space
Cons: see comments above
Location: in middle of new forrest, nice restaurants and pubs in the vilage
Generally the comparrism from price and condition of the hotel is not really good. The Hotel need refurbishment for the communal areas. The room had a Power shower and low water pressure which is not suiteble to a 3 stars. The pool is the best, is nice and big enough but not really clean and so the sauna

Fab one nighter

Stayed for one night with my partner. Clean, comfortable, loved the pool. Short walk to the village with a wide choice of places to eat and drink. Would recommend.

New Forest break

Posted May 16, 2016 on Hotels
1 night in a pleasant room with helpful staff and a good breakfast. Swimming pool was a proper size. Good and clean too. Plenty of car parking and just a short walk into town for bars and restaurants, and bike hire for riding the New Forest trails

I once knew a hotel who dished up a fly...

Posted May 2, 2016 on Hotels
Shocking.... Fly in breakfast, plate of God Not replaced just fly removed!! Cat hair in fruit at breakfast. We did not book evening meal and we were told it was fully booked and that we would have to eat in the bar. We sat next to the door of the restaurant and did not see a single person enter or leave the restaurant throughout our meal, the lights were even off!!! 3 out of four meals were delivered with the fourth arriving 15 minutes later. Overall very disappointing.... The pool however was great, just don't stay for food unles you want to wait and have animals join you!!!
