Car Park Used by Hotel ClosedPosted Nov 23, 2015
Got to the hotel only to be told the car park was closed. After having to ask, was directed to another car park 15minutes away. Was not keep updated with regards to the barrier repairs to the Car park below the hotel. I had to ask each day (no sign up and none of the staff seemed to be worried about it). Instead of paying the £6pd reduced fee I would have had to have paid if the car park below was open, I had to pay £11pd!!! And not even a 'sorry' from the Hotel at the inconvenience.

Worst hotel that I have ever stayed in.Posted Aug 30, 2015
Pros: Absolutely nothing.
Location: Hotel was in the Southampton Solent University area and , what seemed liked a not so good neighbourhood.
This hotel caused a lot of stress for us. We knew that parking was offsite however, unless you hit the jackpot and get one of 34 spaces (which by the way, are also available to the rest of the public too, not just hotel guests) you either have to park in a non secured site at the entrance to this closest garage on Charlotte Road or, park in one of the other two garages which are a good 10-15 minutes walk away and, via very busy roads. The cost of all day parking is approximately £8.00 from 8am to 6pm then, from 6pm to 8am it's another £2 which means you have to make sure you are there to get the ticket for night parking and then be back there at 8 am again to get another ticket until you are ready to go out again! It's ridiculous. Now to the hotel it's self. It's apparently 10 years old but from the decor and condition of the rooms, I thought it was from the 1960's. the mirrors in the bathroom are stained, the grout is filthy, the plumbing gurgles loudly, there is no security latch on the doors, no safe, no blinds and the hairdryer is bolted to a draw that was faling apart. The hotel is in the centre of a roundabout with an inner slip road that allows for only 2 cars ( for 270 rooms) to off and on load your luggage. Lastly, upon deciding to eat at the "Grill" on the last night, only to be ignored for 5 minutes by the Food and Beverage Manger and then, told we had to book ( it was only 1/3 full) ! We ate in the Bar in the end and the food was Luke warm at best.

Nice hotel when they get it right!Posted Jul 25, 2015
Pros: The staff where friendly and would do anything to assist you. The room sizes are good depending on who you are with.
Cons: The bathroom is a bit dated and could do with a re grout. Some tile had small fractures in (but I am being fussy)
Location: Located near to the town centre all within walking distance.
On arrival staff very friendly and the place was extremely busy. From looking around the foyer the bar area was busy and for a relaxing drink would of been impossible with children running around (I have children myself but if I where to travel on my own). Arriving to the first room which should of been enough for 2 adults and 2 children was small the sofa bed was not made and to be honest only big enough for one child. On going back to reception they changed the room so we had a larger room with a sofa bed and a small pull out bed which was perfect for our needs. The room was clean and tidy and large enough for us all to move around in without having to feel crammed into a small space. After a nice evening out we went back to the room and had a relaxing nights sleep.

Perfect over night stay!Posted Jul 20, 2015
Lovely and clean, well managed. Decent bedding and towels, all in good state. Will need a refurb of rooms in a year or two but fine for now. We travelled with kids and the hotel ensured we had adjacent rooms which we didn't request- always nice when hotels think like this - thank you! Check in and check out were flawless!
