A special occasion

Posted Jul 26, 2016
Pros: Location
Cons: Plumbing system in parts of the hotel.
Location: Excellent base to visit local sights, cathedral, Southampton, etc.
The first room allocated had the noisiest plumbing system ever experienced, the second room we were shown was the same and you could still hear the noise from the first room. Our third room was very comfortable with a plumbing system which passed all inspection. Other than that an enjoyable stay.

Dear Martin , In thanking you for posting your review, I apologise that you experienced an issue with the noise of the plumbing and for the inconvenience caused in finding a solution. I have asked Maintenance to identify the cause and take appropriate action. I am pleased however, that despite this issue you did have an enjoyable stay and hope that you will stay with us again in the future. Kind regards William McWilliam

Great location but basic standard

Posted Jul 25, 2016
The hotel was in a fantastic location, next to the Winchester Cathedral. It is very easy to explore the town from here. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was extremely overpriced; nearly £300 for 2 nights, which didn't include breakfast nor parking (I believe). The room was adequate but small; the bathroom door had a large gap at the bottom, so you didn't have much privacy. The bedroom walls were thin so we could hear the neighbours very clearly. I would not stay again for the price, unless additional amenities were provided. I have stayed in many hotels that were much cheaper, yet far more superior in quality. If the cost was lower, I would recommend it to others, to reflect the standard of the room.

Dear Sarah, Thank you for letting us know about your recent stay. I am pleased that our fantastic location was perfect for exploring this great city and that the team here at the hotel were pleasant and helpful. I am sorry that you felt we were expensive, as our rates are very competitive in the local market. Our pricing is reflected by the demand for bedrooms, which is particularly high at this time of year. Kind regards William McWilliam

Great staff and location

Posted Jul 14, 2016
Pros: the location was great and walking distance from all the shops and attractions. The Cathedral was next to the hotel.
Cons: availability of more parking spaces
the staff couldn't do enough for you and the check in was very quick. What I found disappointing was the lack of parking spaces available at the hotel. We had to park across the road in a pay and display car park and had to buy a ticket for the car before 8am and then keep moving it. I think an arrangement should be made with the car park to allow guests of the hotel to park and buy an all day ticket if their car park is full. I don't expect free parking but the ability to park near the hotel and pay for it.

Dear Jane , Thank you for sharing your thoughts following your recent stay. I am delighted that the team looked after you so well and that you experienced a speedy check in. Unfortunately our car park can only hold 30 cars and whilst we are fortunate to have council car park opposite, it is designated as short stay (4 hours maximum in the daytime). It is unlikely they would consider your suggestion as the spaces are really provided for the convenience of shoppers. Despite this concern I sincerely hope that you will choose to stay with us again in the future. Kind regards William McWilliam

Pros: Staff were helpfull
Cons: Bathrooms need refurbishment
Location: Lots of interesting things to do in Winchester
Toilet smelled really bad on arrival, hot water was luke warm when showering. People had paid less than us for bed and breakfast and we were room only.

Excellent position in city centre.

Posted Jul 8, 2016
Cons: It was very warm when we stayed, and while the bedding was excellent, I would have apperciated a much lighter alternative choice on this occasion.
Location: Locaion dead centre of city - easy walking to all attractions - what else to say!!!
Stayed for a short break with my granddaughter and really enjoyed our stay. Very helpful and courteous staff at reception. Did not use the restaurant on this occasion, but staff and bar food in the lounge were as expected for a 4*. Position and ambience, clean comfortable room, well equipped -nice to find a fan, and spare heating without having to chase Housekeeping for these basics.

Excellent location in heart of town

Posted Jul 5, 2016
Pros: Quiet breakfast room and lounge area with views of the Cathedral
Cons: Great if there could be a minibar and safe in the room
Location: Next to Cathedral in the heart of town; walks along the Itzen river, walks through town and to Winchester College. Best hotel location possible.
Staff exceedingly helpful, rooms clean and comfortable albeit a bit small. There was no safe in the room which is why I have it a 4-rating. Breakfast menu was lush - wide range of options and freshly prepared including fruit, yoghurt, juices, bread/pastries , eggs , beans and a la cart options at a reasonable price for the variety offered. Loved the location!

Great hotel for race finish.

I ran the race to the Kings, and I was delighted when I finished to know that the hotel was 100 meter away. Everything was perfect. Great shower, comfortable bed and lovely breakfast. Thankyou..

Zentral gelegenes Hotel

Posted May 19, 2016
Pros: Lage, Zimmergröße, gutes Bett.
Location: Kathedrale , Innenstadt, Spazierwege
Sauberkeit ging so...
