Ancient and modern

Posted Feb 4, 2017
Pros: Location, view and quietness.
Cons: Room could do with a deep clean.
Location: Good with lots to do!
Outside, square box architecture next to ancient cathedral is unbalanced, but it's central. Some staff extremely helpful, one or two a bit nonchalant.

Close to the wonderful High st and cathedral

Posted Jan 20, 2017
Pros: View of cathedral - how on earth did it get built so close?
Cons: Bath silicon a bit sloughy.
Location: Ancient lanes, great shops and pubs, fab town
2 nights, parking available on site (12 GBP daily) Warm rooms - able to open windows for fresh air. a few stairs from lift with luggage. A bit old but good value

Poor administration

Posted Dec 19, 2016
A tremendous muddle was made over the checking out which included us being phoned 40 minutes after we had left and charged for 4 breakfasts that we had already paid for.

Lovely comfy bed. Very hot water. Key didn't work on occasion, but staff very helpful in rectifying problem. Would be nice to have relaxing music in bar.

Business stayover

Posted Nov 17, 2016
Pros: Convenient to city centre
Cons: Old non-descript building, could do with a makeover outside but as it is not visible to passing traffic probably not commercially worth it.
Location: Winchester is a great city, fantastic car free high street, super architecture. We ate at Rick Stein, food was fantastic.
Arrived at 8:00pm, pleasant greeting by Anna. Car park full but opposite is a free car park at night, till 8:00am in morning, avoided hotel £12 charge. Paid by phone for four hours next morning £4.50

No hot water for 3 days!

Posted Nov 14, 2016 on Hotels
3 days with no hot water throughout the hotel! The staff were very helpful and polite but management chose not to warn the guests that they had a problem on checking in, and lied each day that it was a temporary issue which would be resolved. I would not recommend anyone to stay here until after the hotel is refurbished in the New Year. 50% of the cost was refunded but the stay was by no means comfortable or a 4 star experience!
