Great hotel for overnight wedding stayPosted Nov 3, 2015
Pros: Friendly & helpful staff
Cons: The bathrooms are a little dated but in no way an issue.
Myself and my partner stayed at the Swan hotel whilst attending a wedding nearby. The staff were really helpful and accommodating, rooms were spacious, clean, good shower and the beds very comfy! The rooms had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Breakfast was included and was very good, lots of choice and freshly cooked to order! The bar and restaurant area was nice with a cosy feel. I would definitely recommend this hotel for an overnight stay and would definitely stay here again!

Instant hot, hot water!Posted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: The efficient friendliness of the staff, the instant, copious, really hot water and the wide opening windows.
Cons: Of course the rooms could be modernised to look like international 5-star hotel rooms, but I wouldn't call that an improvement myself...
Location: I only went for the three day Jalsa Salana and was so busy I didn't have time for anything else.
I stayed at the Swan over the busiest time of the year, the annual Ahmadiyya Jalsa which attracts 35,000 visitors to the area, but the staff were charming, friendly and personal, and never gave the impression that they were anxious to be off somewhere else doing something else. The rooms are homely rather than ostentatious, but the bath - a proper bath - produced the most instant, hottest, fastest flow of water I have ever experienced in a hotel (Or at home for that matter!). The weather was sultry so it was another joy to have a proper window which opened wide. There was some road building work going on at the front of the hotel so I was glad I was at the back, overlooking the car park.

historic hotel in centre of AltonPosted Jun 30, 2015
Pros: staff friendly
Cons: irritating niggles in the bedrooms
stayed at this hotel many times.....but there's always something amiss in the bedrooms...this time the sink couldn't drain away because there was no way of removing the plug...other times its light bulbs not working, toilets not flushing etc etc I can only assume the management don't inspect the rooms regularly (or worse they do but then don't do anything about it) or the staff don't care enough to report the issues...the hotel is old, in the historic sense, not just tired (and recently refurbished, so much better than previously), but there's just these irritating niggles that should be straightforward to fix

The Swan altonPosted Jun 30, 2015 on Hotels
It was Ok but not a £130 a night hotel. The sash cord on the window was broken so the window wouldn't stay open. It was the only hotel of that price I've stayed in that didn't provide shower caps etc. There were large bottles of liquid soap and body lotion but no shampoo. The service was good but the decor was a bit shabby

A good stayPosted May 28, 2015 on Hotels
We had a good one night stay here. Room was well equipped and bed very comfy, bathroom a little tired however although functional and clean. Floorboards were very squeaky in the room and hallway outside. There was no other noise at night and the room was towards the back of the hotel. I found it to be quite warm which is preferable to cold but still woke up a few times because it was just a bit too warm at night really. However, my husband was fine and had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was good. Nice selection of fresh cooked dishes as well as fruit and yogurt, juice and croissants on offer. Staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Ample parking at back of the hotel. Would stay again.

Our stay at the Swan HotelPosted May 26, 2015 on Hotels
we stay there whilst waiting to get into our new business, the hotel receptionist Michelle was lovely as we had to stay longer than anticipated, she always kept us in the same room if possible because we had our two dogs with us.
