Fabulous place and the grounds must be wonderful in spring and summer. Service is great, food is excellent and my room was enormous.

I won't be returning

Posted Oct 22, 2015 on Hotels
When we got back to our room there was a very disturbing intermittent noise. I called reception to report it. I was greeted with the response 'Ahh, yes...Room 20...that is above the kitchen and the noise is from the extractor fans used there..it should quieten down in around 30/45 minutes'. we were asked if we wanted to change rooms, which we did...getting dressed and packing up our belongings. In the morning, after a dreadful night on a trampoline of a tiny bed, I found the coffee/tea making facilities in the cupboard under the TV cabinet, 3 inches off the floor, and immovable. This meant having to make a coffee on your knees. I went to reception after breakfast, just to make sure they were clear about my displeasure. The second night passed much the same as the first, minus the room change. Imagine my surprise when I came to check-out, and there was no mention of my dissatisfaction. This sort of bad experience is normally settled with a good will gesture. I enquired about this and the receptionist asked me to take a seat and she would ask the Duty manager. A few minutes later I was told nothing could be done, given his card (as he obviously couldn't be bothered to see me in person), and asked if I could contact him before leaving a review. Sadly, I won't be contacting him, that is just not the way to carry on your business. The WiFi in the hotel is probably the worst I have ever come across. It was impossible to access it from our room.

Because we had a dog

Posted Sep 1, 2015
We were bumped from a nicer room to a crap room because we had a dog. The room smelled like a kennel (seriously). I have a small hypo-allergenic dog (Maltese)---he doesn't shed or smell and I was so grossed out sleeping in this room. The main issue was we paid a pretty hefty price each night (£260/night) value for money sucked. So disappointed.

Absolutely beautiful setting. Staff at front desk not that helpful, which let everything else down

Afternoon tea & overnight stay

Posted Aug 4, 2015 on Hotels
We had been given a gift of afternoon tea at Tylney Hall and the hotel looked fabulous, so we booked to stay overnight too. We weren't disappointed. We arrived at around 1pm and were able to check in early which allowed time for us to look around the beautiful gardens prior to our afternoon tea, which was delightful. The staff were very attentive and helpful throughout our stay. After a delicious breakfast we were able to enjoy another stroll round the gardens. A return visit has already been planned.
