Went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room and the motel generally. There were a few less than satisfactory aspects (e.g in-room coffee maker didn't work and the replacement didn't work either) however for the price you shouldn't expect perfection. The staff were generally friendly and the room facilities were functional but what you'd expect.
If you don't have a car it's a short hike up and down hill to get to the Old Town, or you can risk a 150 yard walk by the side of a dual carriageway (not recommended in the dark) to get to a flat route. If walking from the Amtrak station (there are no taxis) it takes about 20 minutes. After that it's easy to get round on foot and you can take advantage of the National Park shuttle that runes between the visitor centre and the Old Town every few minutes.
On a November evening at least the local food options are limited (the Italian restaurant which is just up the hill is very good) and there are not really any bars open although there is a handy liquor store.
