As this place is closed there's no point in booking there. Extremely poor service from Hotels.com

Great value for money (for a London couple!). Plentiful and well cooked breakfast too! 10 min to town centre but no nearby pubs/bars/restaurants that we found.

Pleasant clean room, comfortable bed, good breakfast included. Parking available on the street. Surrounding area is lacking any decent bars and restaurants therefore it's a good place to stay if you have specific places to go as its a base for a good price.

The hotel bar had a loud rock band that played so loud the walls shook. Luckily it was quiet by 11:30 after "last call". We should have been warned since the hotel books a band often.

Looks lovely but it was tired and dirty. No WiFi to speak of, hardly saw any staff apart from the lady who gave us breakfast who was lovely. The shower, after we were moved to a room where one worked, was filthy. The noise from the street was loud too. Not great

Check in was difficult, had to call five times then had a stroppy answer that someone what at property until 9pm, instructions state to call prior to arrival. Parking on road and limited times added to stress. Lady on reception very friendly but her first day in job so knowledge limited, breakfast service was lovely. Bedroom on top floor, was clean and comfortable but space and headroom limited. For the price was OK as location suited our needs. Despite trying the two options displayed did not manage to get Wifi during our stay.

Very Comfortable & Great Value
Friendly & helpful staff. The guest WiFi did not work in my room, but I was provided an alternative which did work. Prompt, varied & fulsome included breakfast, from a full English. Clean & well maintained with a newly refurbished feel. Quiet overnight but curtains were better kept closed in the room at the rear. Overall very good value & I would be happy to stay there again.

Good full English breakfast. Rooms rather dilapidated. Missing light bulb, loose towel rail. In spite of adverts, no wifi in bedrooms.

Nice hotel, close to town centre
Clean ,comfortable room.Unfortunately, soap dispenser and shower gel in bathroom empty.Would have expected them to be filled knowing guests would be using the room.Lovely breakfast.

Great little hotel, thumbs up from us.
Although I personally didn't stop at this hotel I have had feed back from the two guys I placed here and they were both very pleased with the standard of the hotel throughout. The manager was consistently pleasant and the breakfasts were perfect. Great little hotel for the price and we will be using again, thank you :-)

Behaviour and attitude of staff = 7 star
This hotel might not be 5 star but the attitude of the staff there is 7 star. The bloke as the reception was very friendly and ready to answer all questions. On the morning of check out, I tried booking a taxi to take me to the business meeting I was to be at by 9am. It was 08:30 am, I must have called about 8 different taxi operators only to be told that no taxi is available before 9 am. That will mean turning up for my meeting late. The hotel manager(or owner) overheard and offered to give me a lift. Hartlepool might not be the most alluring and beautiful place in UK but it everyone I had dealing with during my short stay was fabulous, fantastic and lovely. Pardon my manners, as I forgot to even ask the name of the Hotel manager that gave me a lift. Once again, I say thank you.

Wonderful helpful staff, happy demeanor & more than willing to answer questions on area & surroundings. Have used The New York Hotel for both business & pleaseure and found it to be great for either. Ideally situated in the heart of Hartlepool, convenient for conecting areas too. Rooms are clean & quiet.

OK for a business stay but not for a leisure break
Very comfortable bedroom with decent bathroom en-suite. The breakfast was very poor - no fresh fruit, as advertised, no honey, very, very limited choice of cereal. A big plus was the superb restaurant called Lusso which is connected to the hotel (what a shame they did not provide the breakfast). Also a great pity was that we had to vacate the comfy lounge by 10 am as they closed it until the evening. Bev was especially helpful.

Worst hotel experience ever.
I had complications getting to hotel. Called a family member to visit and explain my circumstances and re-book! Spent the next 4 days visiting hotel to be told manager is still not present! Finally called and spoke to manager and explained. She said I can re-book room rather than Hotel refund me. Manager told me she would call me next day but nothing! I tried again but Ignored my calls on mobile but I tried on my landline. Answered on landline and told me I can't re-book room to the sounds of kids in the back ground?? (Not at work again) When I pleaded as I needed to be back for my Fathers funeral the Manager hung up on me??? Hotel management is an absolute shambles! I work hard protecting people like this (crime surveillance officer) York hotel you need to manage and have a manager to deal with the public!

Lovely Friendly Hotel
A lovely relaxing Hotel with excellent restaurant, bar and attentive staff who all contributed to a super stay. Highly recommend this Hotel to all visiting the area, a must to enjoy the area fully. Congratulations to all involved with the Hotel.

Overnight stay
An overnight stay to meet with family. V friendly staff, v good service, lovely restaurant which catered v well for my dietary needs and not expensive. I ate breakfast there too which was v well cooked and tastes. All v good value for money. A comfortable stay

I would definitely stay there again.
I had to stay overnight in Hartlepool. The New York House was ideal for its location, price and tranquility. The service was friendly. The full English breakfast included was most welcome. Overall, I would say good value.

OK, but better elsewhere...
I needed a bed for one night. In this regard, the hotel was fine. Certainly clean, and budget price. I am not a frequent traveller, so don't have much to compare it with, but the previous night I stayed in a local competitor, OK it was on a late deal, but I got double en-suite inc breakfast for roughly the same price as I paid here for a single with en-suite leaky toilet, shared bathroom on another floor, no breakfast, and no opportunity to buy breakfast either.

We stayed the night before the Great North Run. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. We even got a free boxed breakfast as we were leaving early the next morning.
