Red Lion

Posted Jul 18, 2017
Pros: Good bed, clean room, nice pool we didn't use, convenient to highways.
Cons: See above.
Location: Location convenient, lots of restaurants, shopping nearby.
This was previously a Hampton Inn, and I stayed there in 2008. It's in pretty good condition, and they keep it clean. I checked in at about 10 pm, and there was a bit of delay. There was one desk clerk, and he divided his time between checking in the guest ahead of me and myself, but had 2 others waiting. He also left momentarily to take care of another guest's problem with his room, so it took me about 15 minutes to check in. The room was spacious and clean, TV worked, and amenities were nice. The toilet seat was very loose, and I tightened it myself. Cleaning staff should have noticed and reported it, and maintenance would have fixed it. My wife is gluten-free, and the continental breakfast had little she could eat. I enjoyed the biscuits and gravy, and they had potatoes, waffles, cereal, and fruit, but some bacon/sausages and eggs would have been very nice. The breakfast area maintenance said a ball team had eaten earlier and cleaned them out. I'd think they would have been prepared for that sort of thing. Otherwise, we liked it.

Doug, thank you for your review. I apologize for the delay in getting you checked in and we are working to correct that. Regarding breakfast, we did order additional items, but apparently not enough to satisfy the hunger of young boys. Again, I do apologize. Regards, Bob

Nice stop on the way to the beaches

Posted Jul 16, 2017
The rooms and staff were great. However there was a family reunion the night we were there and they really took over every space: the pool, the breakfast area, sitting and visiting instead of leaving and making room for others. We wanted our 3 small children to swim off some energy, but the teenagers and adults from the reunion were jumping in the pool , throwing each other, etc. almost landing on our children. After about 30 minutes we had to leave because we didn't feel the children were safe. And they met in the Southern room and kept doors open until after midnight , which was across from our rooms.

Joetta, thank you for staying with us. I regret that it was on such a chaotic period. Family reunions can be an absolute nightmare, especially when they don't show consideration for our other guests. Please accept my apologies and I hope you will come back to see us again in the future. Regards, Bob

Noisiest Stay EVER!!

Posted Jul 14, 2017
Upon arrival, I immediately regretted booking this stay. The aesthetics leave a lot to be desired from the outside. I was pleasantly surprised to find a nice and clean lobby area, albeit filled with very happy and LOUD guests. So much so, I struggled to hear the desk associate assure me that my suite was NOT outside. After moving my car to the opposite side of the property to find my room, I noticed lots of children in the hall of the interior building, first red flag! The room was decent and fairly clean. Definitely not updated, but they have very nice hand soap! (It's a little bar, but very moisturizing!) After settling in, I hear what sounds like barking and crying!! A guest brought her dog into the interior building and the poor pup was losing its mind!!! This dog barked for athe least 30 minutes..... this only slightly drowned out the yelling babies across the hall, who were either upset about the dog or needed a nap! The babies settled down, the dog did not!! I called the desk, and was met with, 'Oh wow, is that a dog?'.... Ummm, Ma'am, yes and it is loud and I have a meeting in the morning!! Unfortunately, there were no other suites available and I spent the evening miserable! The next morning, the manager stated that pets we're not allowed in the interior building and the guest must have snuck the dog in.... however, if this was truly hotel policy, why was it allowed to persist throughout the night?? Scratched off my list, FOREVER!!

Dr. T, I'm very sorry for the uncomfortable night you spent with us. Unfortunately, you were apparently here during a major youth baseball tournament that occurred in our city last week. Chaperones are here for a reason, but apparently these didn't quite understand their duties. I will take the appropriate action regarding the dog in the interior building and will ensure it doesn't happen again. Regards, Bob

Needs a complete remodel...

Posted Jul 3, 2017
Pros: Not much. Should have spent the $11 extra to stay at the hotel across the street.
Cons: The whole place.
Location: It was late. We were there to sleep.
The hotel was worn down. The carpet was nasty. The first room we were in, the AC didn't work and was leaking onto the carpet, making the room smell very musty. They moved us to a second room, but it wasn't much better. The carpet and chairs were heavily stained. and the smell was marginally better. It was 11pm and we and the kids were too exhausted to find anyplace else. We received no consideration or discount for our troubles, we were just moved further down the row. The breakfast was alright, but the line for the single waffle maker was 30 minutes and the staff were slow to refill the other foodstuffs.

Nice hotel for overnight stay

Posted Jun 6, 2017
Pros: Everything was acceptable
Cons: Cleaner carpet in rooms
Location: Good location
Just stayed one night on the way to Pensacola. Hotel located in good area next to Outback Steakhouse and Wendy's. My grandchildren enjoyed the pool and breakfast bar. I read reviews on this place and how some people complained some people are never happy. I would stay here again good prices and good people.
