"Wonderful family accommodations in lovely setting"
From the warm welcome from Danette at the reception in the Shores to our departure experience, the process was painless. Wonderful accommodations for a family with a fully equipped kitchen where we found everything we could want to prepare meals. Proximity to beach and two lovely pools in gated community with nice walking paths. Loved having coffee in the morning on the lanai and watching the birds forage on the grass and surrounding shrubbery!

If you want to spend some quality time at Volcano National Park, this is where you need to stay. In 10 minutes you can drive over to the Jagger Museum and look down upon the fountaining lava in the dark of night. And then in 10 short minutes you are back to the warmth and comfort of your room.

"Look for Hilo Hawaiian not Castle Hilo Hawaiian"
A bit of confusion if you are driving around looking for the name "Castle" as it does not appear on the sign and there's no street numbers...just have to drive around and figure it out yourself. Not everyone has GPSs. We were on a renovated room so it was pleasing though not facing the ocean but rather the street. Nice little balcony for fresh air. Good location within walking distance to some restaurants, mini-marts. Great view of Moana Kea from restaurant in hotel.

"Nice location."
Hotel is in a nice central location with easy access to the beach and other sights. It's 10 minutes from the airport and other convenience shopping needs. Accommodations and hotel staff were pleasant. If going back to Kona, definitely a hotel I would go back to.

Chelsea was great - allowed us to drop off our bags early in the morning while we went exploring - had a fire in the wood burning stove for us each night when we returned. Beautiful cottage. I hope the lamb is doing well, what a cutie!

" Wonderful hotel on the beach. "
This hotel was beautiful, clean, quiet, had everything you would need. Away from the traffic downtown. Beautiful setting. Staff was way beyond friendliness. The food was exceptional. The entertainment at the beach bar was wonderful to listen to. We definitely stay there again on our next trip.

"Best of Hilo"
Still undergoing renovations although they didn't interfere with my week long stay. Staff professional and courteous, grounds and neighbouring parkland is beautiful. Great atmosphere. Staff told me since Hilton took over they sell out every night albeit some rooms are still under renovation. You will be happy with your choice if you stay here.

The photos made the property look more up-scale. We had a garden room so I was expecting a larger garden than what was outside our door. The hotel wasn't as nice as I thought it would be but still wasn't terrible. The staff was very nice!

"Nice mega resort with a lot of options."
This mega resort has a lot of options to appeal to many different types of travelers. While everyone will find something to like, this resort is best suited for families. Everything a family could want to do is located on the grounds. The pools, slides, the lagoon, and the dolphin adventure are a big draw for children. I would definitely recommend staying in the lagoon tower, since most of the things to do and see are nearby. Yes they do have a monorail, but it was broke down the morning I had to check out! About the only thing not near the lagoon tower are dining choices of the Boat Landing Cantina, Imari, and Dona's and Tony's Pizza. These 3 restaurants are near the monorail stops. The Hilton Waikoloa Village is nice, but many travelers have stayed in far nicer hotels. And even though the resort is very large, it can be very crowded at times. I remember seeing over a 30 minute wait for ice cream at Shaka Cones. The food in the restaurants is above average for a large resort. The prices for everything is what you would expect from a large resort in Hawaii. At first, I didn't care much for a crowded resort showing some signs of wear and located 30 minutes from Kona, but after seeing the other choices while in Kona, maybe the Hilton Waikoloa Village is the best choice on the big island. The choices in Kona were near all of the excursions with tour provider pickups (often not the case with the Hilton), but they were all 3+ star hotels with few amenities.
