Nice hotel, but not young family friendlyPosted Oct 10, 2015
The is a modern, nicely appointed hotel situated a block back from waikiki beach. The fixtures, television and furnishings are new and in excellent condition. The rooms are clean, the staff are friendly and the hotel provides complimentary buffet breakfast daily - which was one of the drawcards to us staying here. This hotel would be perfect for couples or families with older children but I would not recommend it for anyone travelling with an infant or young child. Travelling with a baby is difficult at best and coming from a Hilton Resort to this hotel, we saw a significant decline in baby friendliness. We had requested a microwave on our booking to sterilise our baby's bottles and warm her food; upon checkin we were told this was not possible and they did not allow microwaves in rooms. I was however, told that I could provide the kitchen staff with my sterilising bags and they would use their microwave. (Lovely gesture, but going down to the lobby multiple times through the night is not the most desirable). I had also requested a kettle to boil water for her but was similarly told that all the kettles had been given out. As we had requested these items months ago, this in my opinion is not acceptable - why were we not informed earlier so we could change our reservation? Our room was very small and outside noise from other rooms and maids was excessive. In future, I will stay at a hotel that better suits the needs of my family and ensure I do more research.

SlowPosted Oct 1, 2015
Pros: The children's pool was nice.
Cons: Add more staff members at the front desk.
It was a slow down experience. Check-in was slow, waited 10 minutes in line because inadequate number of check-in staff. The room was very far from the lobby. We had three methods to reach the room, a long walk, tram or boat ride. We decided on the boat ride, it took us over ten minutes to get to our room. When it came time to check-out we had to walk because the tram wasn't working and the wait for the boat would have been over twenty minutes. We have no desire to return to this resort.

Hotel nice but widely spread out. Lots of walking food on premise very expensive. Need to shop locally. But no microwave to heat up food for children

Best resort if you have kidsPosted Sep 30, 2015
Pros: Resort facilities for kids
Cons: get rid of self parking charges... Its just too much and parking lot is too far from resort or have multiple entry points to lagoon tower etc..
Amazing location right on the ocean...remember there is no beach...thats why have written ocean... great for kids, well planned and enjoyed the stay...

Beautiful but not overly accessible - too bigPosted Sep 22, 2015
Hotel property is gorgeous! At first the excitement of the tram/monorail was appealing but the longer we stayed the more annoying it was. It took almost 20-25 minutes to get from the self parking lot to the lobby, on the tram, to our hotel tower then up to our room. Then one evening the tram quit working... Long, long walk to the room after dinner. Kind of a bummer :( I just spent three nights here with my husband on the first leg of our honeymoon. The room, linens, cleanliness was top notch. View was incredible! The resort offers a lot of activities but it seems mostly geared towards those with families who want to stay on the property and not venture out to the rest of the island. Biggest downfalls were: - parking fees ($25/day for self park) - resort fee ($25/day per room) - overpriced restaurants - no direct beach access - not smoker friendly - too large of a property and too time consuming/difficult to get around - no jacuzzi on property -all amenities and restaurants close very early (9pm). Room service is only option and very pricey. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here! But if I were to go back to Hawaii again, I would personally chose somewhere a bit more low key and less resort-like.

Nice hotel but hard to get around.Posted Sep 21, 2015
Pros: They provided complementary valet service for those with a handicapped parking permit. The service was excellent.
Cons: The ability to get from your room to the lobby. It is too far for the handicapped to walk and both trains do not always run; extremely slow.
The train to get to the lobby delayed daily trips by 20 to 30 minutes. The continental breakfast was $25; rather pricey for breakfast. We ate at a nice cafe at the Waikaloa Shopping Center.

Nice resort, a little run down.Posted Sep 20, 2015
Watch out for centipede's. I got bit/pinched/stung while walking to my room. Not fun at all. Plus we got charged $1.00 for calling security for help, after the incident. Also found a coach roach in the room. The carpet was pretty soiled. Bathroom wall paper was musty/moldy from moisture or water damage. Kind of gross. Amenities were nice. Staff was friendly. Tram was convenient. Parking is ridiculously expensive.

A place one would like to go for vacationPosted Sep 20, 2015
Hawaii vacation was50th birthday gift from my husband and we booked this resort as it was highly recommended by one of my friend. Beautiful resort, with wonderful, courteous staff. Always ready to help you. Negative side was, there was fee for most of resort activities, even after paying daily resort charges. Good sight seeing, locations were reserved for guests who are paying extra.
