Nice B&B with an awesome settingPosted Nov 15, 2015
The common areas of this B&B were quite nice. The room that we were in was comfortable, but simple. Small bathroom, and not enough space to really unpack a suitcase. That said - The grounds are more than worthwhile, and the staff and breakfast are all very nice. Ka'u coffee available anytime of day. A great breakfast, and plenty of it.

lovely inn next to a beautfiul waterfallPosted Oct 12, 2015
This is a lovely inn right by a large waterfall, with the ability to swim in the pond that the fall creates. Ht is about 25 minutes in the hills surrounding Hilo, with many tropical farms nearby. It is isolated and very quiet. However, there is no AC, just a ceiling fan, but we were able to manage fine. the rooms were large with balcony views and decorated with Asian- Hawaiian decor. The full breakfast was wonderful especially the waffles with macadamian nuts.

Unique, quiet, remote B&B next to falls and riverPosted Sep 21, 2015
Pros: Very unique, rain forest type experience. Very courteous and friendly owners and staff. Excellent breakfast.
Cons: Air conditioning.
Location: It is about a 10 minute drive up an isolated paved lane through macadamia orchards and beautiful landscape from downtown Hilo.
We enjoyed the beautiful setting right next to an impressive falls and river. It is an isolated and quiet setting except for the sound of the falls and the rain forest animal sounds at night, which are striking. It is a unique experience. The only negatives we had was that our room was very small (we took the lowest priced room so we got what we paid for) and there was no air conditioning in our room. It was a little hot at times. All in all, we highly recommend the lodging at this very nice B&B.

Innkeeper does not care.Posted Sep 17, 2015
Pros: The staff (not owner) were pleasant and helpful.
Cons: The owners attitude toward guests. Breakfast needs to vary from day to day and include a protein. Omit souffle from menu, not a souffle & not good.
Location: The falls are lovely.
We stayed in the Hibiscus room, a very small room just fitting a queen size bed, one small window, a fan but no A/C and a small bathroom. The room was behind the kitchen/living area and you could easily hear other guests meaning they could clearly hear us giving us no sense of privacy. The breakfast was identical both days with no protein except a sad, tasteless, inedible failed souffle (egg white with cheese slices inside) the owner called a quiche since it had failed. After the first evening cooped up in the room we asked the owner (Lenny) if we could change/upgrade our room since the Hibiscus room was so small and close feeling making it difficult for us to sleep. He was not receptive arguing with us about the size of the room and how we were feeling in the room saying we could open the door into the small lanai. Keeping the door open into the lanai at night did not make the room feel larger as it was in a WALL and the outside screen door could not be locked for security with a 4"x4" opening in the door and 2" under the door to let bugs and mosquitoes inside. I explained to Lenny that I get eaten alive by mosquitoes. Meeting deaf ears and argument we told him to just forget it. We could see he did not care about our comfort. In addition, the lanai was not inviting with an unsightly 3'x4' sunken grated area with a sump pump that gave off an awful odor and two small almost dead plants in pot making the lanai not an enjoyable place to sit in at all.

Not in summer heat....Posted Aug 25, 2015 on Hotels
Lovely location but lack of air conditioning in excessive heat and humidity, plus bugs from tropical plants, made sleeping very difficult. Breakfast needs more variety.
