Great location with direct access to the ocean!

Posted Mar 24, 2017
Pros: After a week in Kona we realized that the location of this hotel and its many amenities were totally awesome.
Cons: More lounge chairs to lay out in the sun by the pool and beach and have pool towels available by the pool instead of having to go to the front desk
Location: Prime location for the area - located on the beach with access to kayaking (which we did twice), tons of restaurants, boat tours, shopping, etc
We loved the Courtyard by Marriott in Kona - direct access to the beach with a great pool. We took a number of boat charters from the pier next to the hotel - enjoying great whale watching and an absolutely great sunset sail on Body Glove Tours. We loved the Big Island and the concierge services at the front desk. They arranged an all day tour of the island for us - that was phenomenal - seeing the active volcano, waterfalls, walking through lava tubes, black sand beaches with giant turtles and much more. The staff at the Courtyard by Marriott were awesome!!

Not as good as hoped

Posted Mar 23, 2017
Location is great and bed was comfortable but beyond that our stay was not great. Pool and beach area is much too small for a hotel of this size and it was always tough to find lounge chairs. They also require you to wear a bracelet to use the pool which is rather annoying. One night the hot tub was totally full with a bunch of drunk people who the hotel continued to over serve. We waited nearly an hour but still couldn't use the hot tub. Our room was also in need of a good cleaning. The whole hotel felt a little run down in fact.

Pros: Staff was very attentive.
Cons: Room maintenance.
Location: Nice restaraunts are very close
Staff was very attentive. Facilities are a bit dated. The rooms can use some renovation work. The pool and pool bar are nice, as is the small beach. It is irritating that there is no airport shuttle. You are forced to take a cab for $30 each way. Why not have a hotel shuttle, maybe charge a more modest fee of say $10 each way. Overall an ok experience.

Aloha, Thank you for your feedback. We are actually working on projects at our hotel that will be providing upgrades to our guest rooms, public areas and lobbies in phases over the next few months. We hope you will be back one day to see what we've done. As for the transportation between the airport and the hotel, there are alternative transportation services available such as Uber, various Speedi Shuttle type services and of course the traditional taxi services. We are looking into creating a partnership with one of the shuttle services. We thank you for bringing this to our attention. Mahalo!

Not worth the money

Posted Mar 7, 2017
Cons: Replace mattresses
Location: Lots of shops within walking distance.
I booked this hotel because I wanted to be in a hotel on a beach where I could swim. I saw the pictures of the "beach" before I booked, but the two other Kona beachfront hotels that were an option were significantly more expensive. The "beach" is a tiny crescent inlet, not much bigger than a large pool. The hotel's pool was crowded, as was the hot tub. My biggest problem with this hotel, however, were the beds. The first room I was assigned to was the next to last at the far (street) end of the hotel. The king bed was in desperate need of a new mattress as it was shot. When lying down the mattress just sunk below the body. Due to this and the distance from the elevators I requested a room change. My reassigned room was just a room away from the elevators and had two Queen beds... with the same saggy mattress problem. I didn't bother asking for another room reassignment. On a more positive note, the hotel has a free breakfast buffet with decent food, an omelet station and a very attentive, friendly staff.

We are sorry that your stay wasn't as enjoyable as it could've been. We currently are in the process of replacing mattresses in the guest rooms. If you have a free moment, would you please send me the room numbers you were in so I can alert our Housekeeping Director to replace those mattresses as soon as possible.

Location is great

Posted Mar 2, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Staff's attitude
Location: Everything in the city is in a walking distance
Although the location is great, majority of the rooms' view suck. There are many rooms, with a wall at the balcony's water side, which blocks any sea view, leaving only the view of the parking lot or the street in the back of the hotel. When we complained that "we paid a higher of the available prices but it felt like it was one of the rooms, with no view", we were offered a $4 box of chocolate, making us feel like having been handed out a charity. When we complained the first time, the receptionist lied, saying that there are no other rooms available, later we found out that there were better rooms available, and changed the room. They make you wait in line of registering hotel guests to get a towel for the pool !

Aloha, I apologize for your disappointment with the views from your rooms. If a guest is wanting a room with a full view, there will be an increase in price because of the view. I noted your comment about our front desk agent did not provide you with accurate information about the availability of rooms when you wanted to relocate. There probably were not any available at the exact time you requested it, but as you said, later rooms were available was probably so because rooms were cleaned and became available to use. Pool towels are available in all our rooms once you enter the room. Mahalo.

Don't bother with ocean view

Posted Feb 24, 2017
Most of the rooms with "ocean view" are not worth any extra money because it is mostly obstructed by other parts of the hotel and it is not a very attractive part of the ocean. I paid a lot of extra money and was excited about the view until I saw it and felt ripped off. Save your money and enjoy the view from a beach or restaurant.

We regret your disappointment with your room's view. Did you happen to verify the type of room on your reservation confirmation to ensure you paid for a full ocean view and not a partial ocean view? Again, our apologies for your disappointment. Thank you.

Good hotel close to the Kona tourist area.

Posted Feb 21, 2017
Pros: Great location and easy to get in and out of.
Cons: The Hotel is getting a bit tattered around the edges and could use a refresh.
Location: Kona Brewing Co is a must stop.
We recently stayed at the Kona Marriott to end off our Hawaii vacation with few days enjoying the tourist amenities of Kona. Overall the Marriott was best described as average. The staff was pleasant and tried their best to answer any questions and provide information, guidance, etc. It was in an instance where we needed a little bit more attention where the service fell a bit short. We had a small issue in our room where a puddle of water appeared next to the wall...in close proximity to the bathroom, AC, etc. I informed the front desk of this issue in the morning as we left for the day and was promised that maintenance would have a look at it. Upon returning in late afternoon we found the water spot larger. Upon enquiring at the desk, again, I was told that the engineer could come up right now. We left for a short time as he needed to use a shop vac. Upon our return, there was no indication as to whether or not the problem had been solved and we were left with a mess in our bathroom.

Aloha, I am sorry to hear about the incident with the leak in your room. I was even sorrier to read that a mess was left in its wake, which is very unusual for the quality of work performed by our Engineering staff. I have shared your comments with them and their Director will be following up on the matter. Again, my sincerest apologies.

Nice location.

Hotel is in a nice central location with easy access to the beach and other sights. It's 10 minutes from the airport and other convenience shopping needs. Accommodations and hotel staff were pleasant. If going back to Kona, definitely a hotel I would go back to.
