Good location disappointing hotel

Posted Aug 28, 2017
Visited hotel with our friends first impression of hotel was disappointing hotel very dated both rooms were very small and shower areas could have been better the mastic around the bottom of our shower was black and the shower tray was badly marked our friends shower head looked a bit grubby the bar area was awful high hard stools to sit on no comfy seating in area at all and the carpet in this area was badly stained this was also were the breakfast was served in the morning which we never had the staff who we saw were very nice and the hotel was in a great location near hay market train station taxi ranks and bus services also just a 15 min walk into Princes Street This hotel is badly needing to be updated we paid a reasonable amount as well for our overnight stay as it was during the Edinburgh festival

Good value for money

Posted Aug 4, 2017
The hotel is very conveniently located, good transport links into city centre and airport, plenty of places to eat out. Hotel staff were very friendly and prompt to assist. Our executive room was spacious and clean, beds comfortable enough. Could've done with a chest of drawers. Some noise from the street, but this is to be expected in such and old building and so close to city centre. 30 min walking distance to most attractions.

Good location but definitely budget!

Posted Jul 26, 2017
Piries Hotel is a good location - just by Haymarket station with easy links to all the main attractions and a 20 min walk to city centre. However, it is definitely a budget hotel. Our room was TINY (as in, the bed took up almost the whole room and only one of us could fit down the side to get into the bathroom at a time!) The bed was very uncomfortable, you could feel the springs through the mattress and the bedding was old and scratchy. It's also extremely noisy, neither of us got any sleep as you could hear people going in and out of their rooms all night, going to the toilet, and often sounded like they were actually in our room! For what we paid - I wouldn't go back.

Hard working friendly Staff

Posted Jul 25, 2017
Pros: Staff
Cons: Decor, mattresses.
Location: Great location
In need of updating.decor poor, mattresses very poor. If you just require somewhere to lay your head down cheaply then do otherwise give it a miss. You can get hostels cheaper for same quality.

Fairly Central

Posted Jun 25, 2017
Pros: The price was very good and the location and the size of the rooms.
Cons: Larger double beds, more sound proofing.
Location: Just a hop on the bus to princess street infact you could walk it in 12 minutes, everything there is in Edinburgh is close enough to get too.
Nice hotel fairly central in Edinburgh, easy access for buses etc, just a little noisy with traffic but that's what you would expect in a large city, room was massive but bed a little small, I would stay again, thank you.

Edinburgh marathon weekend

Posted May 30, 2017
Pros: Nothing to dislike.
Cons: Being picky it would be nice to have a cooked breakfast, but there are cafés very close by.
Location: City centre less than a mile away.
Nice hotel close to lots of cafe and convenience stores and only a 15 minute walk to the city centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. If I was to be very picky every evening there was a noise from somewhere that sounded like a dishwasher running, it didn't carry on all night but always seemed to be about 10pm. I must be fair and admit it didn't stop me sleeping. Will definitely stay here again if ever back in Edinburgh.
