There's a full-service grocery store a block away (Coles) and so we stocked up on fruit and snacks to keep in the hotel fridge and take out with us so we didn't have to buy food out all the time.

This area is OK if you like Asian food and shops. It's hard to find much else. However, once can walk a few blocks north on George St. and find a greater variety, at least of shops.

This is a student neighborhood so it is full of young people which makes it feel very safe. There are plenty of small cafes. It is 5 minutes walk from Central Station and 15 minutes from Town Hall.
