The problem wasn't the property, it was Expedia and the reservation process....I selected the Travel Protection Plan at a cost of $4.50 and was charged $9.00.

Within walking distance of Walmart and several fast food restaurants. Pool was closed which could be a major disappointment for families.

Disappointing for a Marriott family hotel
From the popcorn ceilings to the tired furniture, to the squeeky and uneven floors, the rooms this hotel was in need of a refresh and upgrade. Additionally, additional attention to detail when cleaning is needed. Food crumbs under the matress, stained dust ruffle, and hairs/dirt in the corner of the bathroom indicated that thurough cleanings were not always co.pleted between guests.

We liked that it is a Marriott. Easy on and off of I-70. The hotel lobby & hallways were clean. Staff were friendly and polite. The breakfast was hot and fresh. We liked that the doors have a feature that the deadbolt locks when you close the door. Our room wasn’t bad. Saw some missed food on the floor by the bed pedestal. Otherwise, the room was clean and quiet even for being close to highway. We’d stay again.

Check-in went ok until I was told my card would be card $20.00 & if we didn't charge anything to the room in 2 to 3 days it would be refunded back. This is a first for me. They always have a credit card on record but never upfront charge. After getting settled into our room on the 2nd floor. Someone above us decided to have a dance party. Well maybe not a party but we could hear every step they made! So much for a good night's sleep...

Check in through the Expedia site did not work. However, the staff was on top of things and check in was efficient, helpful, informative, and professional. The lobby was clean, rooms comfortable, and services easily accessed. I enjoyed the night’s sleep; awoke well rested in the morning.

What’s with GOLD status⁉️
Staff was very nice. I was disappointed I could NOT use my GOLD status. I was told we weren’t in the “system”, which I don’t understand because I’ve been a member for years. I showed them the membership on my phone stating GOLD status. I ALWAYS have to to inform hotels, & the most I’m give is bottled water. But this hotel had “complimentary “ bags, & I was told I wasn’t eligible since I wasn’t “in the system”. I was told my perks disqualified us because our Gold status was through Expedia. Odd, I booked through HOTELS.COM. Also, toilet ran all night, & we found a Cheeto beside the bed when we arrived

The bathroom smells moldy and has accumulated dirt in the floor. The door near my car was not working, so I had to walk around the building. The credit card system was not working and the attendant scanned my card three times. I have no confidence that I won’t be charged three times. No laundry services so I had to drive to a laundromat after traveling all day. Won’t be back.

Awesome Breakfast!
Awesome breakfast!! Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was accommodating and courteous. Definitely would recommend this hotel to friends and will stay there again when we return to Hays.

We reserved and paid for a king room, but were given a single queen room, next to the elevator, with an ac unit that struggled to keep up with the heat/humidity, and a tv that had some audio issues. Horrible value for what we paid.
