Welcoming Hurricane Refuge

My daughter and I had to evacuate from our home on the coast ahead of Hurricane Matthew. We were looking for a place with a one-day cancellation policy that was reasonably priced, off the busy highway and not too far inland, and the Key West met those criteria.
The hotel staff were extremely accommodating, letting us modify our reservation multiple times. I thought it was very nice of them to relax their pet policy under the evacuation situation, though we did not bring a pet with us. The room was clean and comfortable if basic. Breakfast was free, also basic.
The only negative of staying at the inn was the town of Baxley. The restaurant selection was poor. There is not much to do there. On one day of our evacuation, when we had cabin fever, we drove to nearby Douglas for dinner and a movie in an old downtown theater, a fun side trip.
