Too Many Disappointments

The dog in the room next door barked at night (We won't stay again in a hotel that allows pets), three vending machines would not allow me to buy water ("sold out," "sold out," and "sold out"), the towel bar in the bathroom broke off the wall, and the mattress in the king-size bed sagged. During checkout, the hotel clerk perfunctorily asked me "How was your stay?" When I attempted to list my complaints, he talked right through my sentences. It was a clear case of "tell me what I want to hear, or I won't let you tell me anything." And for all of these conveniences, we paid over two hundred dollars a night. Although it's unfair to judge all hotels in a chain by one experience, we will not be staying in a Holiday Inn again.
