Excellent boutique hotel within central Helsinki

Posted Oct 22, 2016
Overall great: very clean, comfortable, stylish, ok breakfast, welcoming professional staff. Only negative: for a 4 star hotel no fitness facilities at all. If that is not important excellent place to stay

Hidden Jem Near the Sea Port and Central Station

Posted Oct 3, 2016
Pros: Quiet. Well appointed. Very comfortable. Very attentive staff. Accessible to central parts of the city.
Cons: Single mattress king/queen bed. Larger vanity area in the bathroom.
Location: Central station - access to all parts of the city. City center and Forum shops. Weekend market by the wharf.
You'd never know it from the street level view, but this is a very well appointed boutique hotel. After entering through non-descript driveway entrance that seems to be more for deliveries than a hotel entrance, the hotel opens up to showcase a modern richly designed hotel. The lobby and adjacent eating area reminds me of a butler-ed Tudor mansion. Not in size though, just items like rich wood accented wall panels, the wine display, cleanly designed spaces and properly attired staff. A high-end hotel compressed in a smaller space. The rooms are good size and the space feels more like US hotels as opposed to those super tight european ones. The cleanly designed rooms make it feels more spacious than the actual floor space would let you believe. Well designed rooms, good work area on the desk, well maintained Grohe vanity&shower fixtures, Queen/King sized bed that seems to be formed by 2 full size beds, and closet space that actually fits clothes/suits. Good attention to detail, such as wood hangers, multiple outlets at the desk, and sturdy leather desk blotter. May be just the Finnish style, but, seems like "less is more" is a common theme... though the "less" is really well done. Same with the breakfast, limited variety (as compared to those larger hotel) but just enough variety (3 types of bread, 3 danishes, 5 cold cuts, 3 cold cereals, 3 yougurt/fruits...) with quality like brie and harvati for cheeses, and capricola and spiced beef for cold cuts. Nice.

Lovely hotel, nice location

I really liked the hotel and staff were very helpful. I was expecting something with a bit more character, it felt a little like a business hotel.

Wonderful hotel. We had an issue with our safe and the hotel associate was extremely attentive and apolgetic and she attended to our needs immediately with a new room and a small box of chocolates for our inconvenience The room was lovely, clean and was perfect. Breakfast was great!

Pros: Location, condition, and great breakfasts.
Cons: Nothing
Location: So near the Esplanade and centre of the city. Easy access to many things, including the trams and Hop On Hop Off bus, great shops, and Design Museum.
Everything was great, especially the staff, who were all very helpful and friendly.

Very good smaller boutique hotel

Posted Jul 25, 2016
Pros: Location. Close to everything. Mini market and post office just around the corner.
Cons: Breakfast area layout could be slightly improved
Location: As mentioned above - close to everything. Just a street away from the Esplanade.
Great rooms. Small, cozy lobby. Rather crowded breakfast area.

Excellent Hotel in Central Helsinki

Posted Jul 19, 2016
Pros: Staff, room, food ... all very good.
Cons: A restaurant, but there are many excellent ones in Helsinki. Automatic front door next to the elevator; opens anytime you get in or out.
Location: Only two blocks from the the market and central park. Perfect location.
This is an excellent hotel, well priced and with friendly and attentive staff. Hotel bar is the front desk, which is kind of funny. No restaurant, but the hotel breakfast buffet, while not American, is very good. Rooms are on the largish side. Great bathroom. Very comfortable. Everything works well. Hotel staff is friendly and attentive. I was really impressed.

Good location, a bit tight

Posted Jul 9, 2016
Overall a very positive experience at the Fabian. Great location in center of town with short walk to trolley and main Market Square. A minor quibble about being charged 8 euros for 2 bottles of water at the front desk (would have been much more courteous to provide without fee). Breakfast was decent but small serving room was very crowded. Still, a satisfying stay.
