Other than location, hotel is poor and strange.

Posted Jan 12, 2016
I'm usually not one for 'hotel experiences' - as long as it's clean, helpful and fairly cosy I'll be pleased. But this hotel is strange and impersonal. We encountered NO STAFF during our 5 day stay - I received a message from the hotel the day of arrival with a code, which I then entered to gain access to the building. The room wasn't cleaned once during our stay (we had to empty and dispose of our own bins with bags provided; our towels ran out and we had no access to new ones and so did our toiletries). These concerns wouldn't have been a problem had the hotel offered some form of staff access/reception. The breakfast was atrocious - they should NOT claim to offer breakfast. We noticed a poster downstairs directing us to the breakfast cafe opposite the street; we found it and it was a Moroccan style (I suspect independent from the hotel) cafe with no more than 5 tables. The breakfast 'bar' was tiny and choice was very limited. I would not recommend this hotel - it is a strange experience with some real issues in need of rapid amendment. They are clearly trying to cut costs in every and any way possible but I wouldn't say it is possible to be a hotel and not provide: a) reception area/staff contact, b) room cleaning and c) an acceptable breakfast. It sells itself as though it's a bit ahead of the game (i.e. providing a fridge and microwave) but it absolutely, categorically and unpleasantly behind the game.

Omena Hotel: easy and cheap

Posted Jan 5, 2016
Pros: Everything
Cons: Room cleaning at least every 2-3 days
Location: near restaurants and bars and a few minutes walk from railway station, Kamppi & Forum shopping centers and the very city centre.
No staff in the hotel: they send you a sms with a keycode to access front door and your room. Nevertheless, if you have problems staff will solve them quickly. Second day lights in the room were not working, I sent an email and in less than 20 minutes they sent the maintenance to fix them. In the room you have also hair dryer, microwave owen and room facilities to make tea & coffee. Comfortable beds. Very clean. They don't clean the room during the stay, but you can always ask the room keeper to change your towels or to have extra toilet paper. Always going to Omena when I'm in Finland (Omena hotels always have a location in the city centre), always a nice stay.

Central location

Posted Dec 11, 2015
Pros: Proximity to city centre.
Cons: Maintenance of light fittings.
Location: Central location with good access to shops and restaurants.
The hotel is well located for the centre of the city and transport links. There is no check-in desk but the hotel sends a code for the room in advance. The room was spacious enough and the mini-fridge was large enough for a few bottles/cans and some smaller items. The bathroom was clean with a roomy shower.

2. kertaa Omenahotellissa

Posted Oct 23, 2015 on Hotels

Hi Melanie and my apologies for the room not being cleaned on time. I hope this didn't cause too much trouble.
