Quirky but lovely hotel

Pros: Used it over the last 15 years for business
Cons: add a sauna
Location: lots as it's a great location for everything a tourist would want
Used the Torni many times over the last 15 years previously for business but now retired so for fun this time. Still the same lovely architecture - rooms can be considered small but always clean and sufficiently well appointed. The hotel location is unbeatable for tourist stuff being a short walk from the station and near all trams and also the Market place near the quayside where you get the ferry to the Fortress island. Since 2015 the new HSL/HRT links from the Airport (I and P trains) were opened 5 Euro gets you a single from Airport to the centre of Helsinki. Very easy to use. I bought the Regional travel card for my wife and I on line and used it to get to the hotel and to travel around on the 4 and 7 trams. We dined out in some nice places noting the Fig Tree and Lapis near our hotel as in our view very nice and for lunchtime a short walk down the Esplanade to the quayside 'market place' Soup and Story restaurants were informal, good value and great fun. Also found nearby the 'Block' restaurant where we had a cosy and excellent value buffet Sunday lunch. We went to the Ateljee Bar in our hotel and enjoyed an Irish Coffee shutting our eyes to the price and taking in the view over Helsinki. All in all a fun trip even though the current Euro rates made it a pricy one.

Pros: Location
Cons: Rooms very small and need heavier curtains to prevent the light from the street coming into the room at night. No much clothe storage space.
Good location, with restaurants and shops close by. Easy to get around in the city. Metro also close by.

A favorite of mine among European hotels

The Torni has a lovely, low key historical charm and boasts one of the best views in Helsinki from its Ateljee bar on the 12th floor. Centrally located but on a quiet side street, the hotel offers a spectacular, nordic style breakfast. The staff is excellent; on a recent visit several members went well beyond the call of duty to help resolve a problem around air tickets. Altogether, Torni is one of my favorite hotels in Europe.

The room not really worth 4 stars. We like windows open at night for ventilation but a generator below window was very noisy. We had stayed in hotel previous week on 10th floor so when we checked we asked for a lower floor but hotel was full. The breakfast was excellent and staff very friendly.

Chic Modern Hotel- small but comfortable rooms

Pros: Room décor, TV channel selection, (except only Fox for US). Courteous staff.
Cons: Until A/C is added, add a fan in each room. Lose the key-operated master power switch. Need bedside table.
Location: Lots of shopping nearby, but limited cultural events during summer.
Good location, quiet room, very good but expensive breakfast. Room rates were increased during my 3 day stay. Needs to have A/C in rooms, an ice machine for guests, and another elevator to service the 14th floor "Vista" bar . Usually shorthanded at reception - considerable waits are often necessary during popular times.

We had a superior room so had a fantastic view. However the toilet and shower in the room gave no privacy. We like the windows open at night but a lot of noise from either air con or plant outside prevented this.

Nice simple hotel at the heart of the city

Pros: Location
Cons: I asked for a quiet room, was advised I was allocated one but ended up with a noisy room
Location: Great! Major shopping centres are just around the corner. Close to train station and the docks.
It was a simple hotel at the heart of Helsinki. Staffers were quite helpful but was disappointed that when I specifically asked for a quiet room, we ended up in a noisy room. Other than that, breakfast options were great, wifi was working properly and close to everything.
