Nice hotel with excellent staff

Service was exceptional.Rooms were in average condition. Beach is close to main pool. The food was delicious. Nice place for a family holiday.

This was our 2nd stay at the Creta Maris. Again, our stay was incredible. The resort is well maintained and there is something to do for all ages. We again stayed in a Deluxe Ocean Front suite. The suite was incredible, we stayed in room 4060 which had a hot tub on the very large balcony. The views of the ocean and the resort were amazing. The hotel has numerous restaurants which used the highest quality ingredients. I would highly recommend the BBQ and Italian restraints. The food was amazing,.but then again all of the restraints are wonderful. I would highly recommend this hotel and plan to stay here again soon!

Great hotel and location, but .......

Pros: Clean and tidy, large number of pools, lots of leisure activities. Range, quality of food excellent and presentation in specialist restaurants superb.
Cons: More provision for non-smokers
Location: On a wide and deep beach. Short walk to nearby Hersonissos port and town. Bus stop outside hotel for independent trip to Heraklion.
Booked a double room with sea view. I emailed a week before to emphasise a double room and also asked for a balcony to ensure a good sea view, and a shower as I have a slight mobility problem so getting in and out of a bath is a risk. We were allocated a twin-bedded room on the ground floor with a bath ! Went back to reception to ask for a room more in line with our request and were taken to a room with a double bed (tick) a balcony (tick) a partial sea view to the side of the balcony (half tick) and a main view over adjacent properties and a road leading to restaurants and bars (no ticks) and it had a bath (no tick). Not too happy but technically we had got most of what we asked for and we did not want to waste more time by protesting again. After two days Expedia sent us a request review the check-in procedure at the hotel so we provided a low score and explained why. The next day we were asked to go to reception where we were promised a new room in line with our requirements. However we were nearly half way through our holiday and did not want to have to pack and unpack yet again so we declined. No explanation for why our requirements were not met on the previous two occasions. Not very impressed. Although the room was non-smoking there was an ashtray on the balcony table. The other “but” concerns the prevalence of smokers in the complex, especially in the covered terraces where the smoke could not easily escape. These areas should be made non-smoking as is the inside.

As regards the room, we would like to point out that the room type booked via Expedia is mentioned as “Deluxe Double or Twin Room”, which means that the guest may be offered either double or twin room. As we inform our guests, the preferences they state during the reservation process are noted and offered only upon the resort’s availability. Thus, the double room, the bath and the floor of the room can be offered only upon availability. However, in case of a mobility problem, we do our best in order to offer a room next to the main facilities and with corresponding room’s amenities. Unfortunately, in your case the mobility problem was not stated during the reservation process. As you already mentioned, after you checked in and contacted us we did our best in order to offer you another room that would have met your expectations. However, after your allocation we received your negative feedback via Expedia regarding the second offered room, so we informed our Front Office Manager, who contacted you and offered additional accommodation choices, which you denied. Thus, we would like to clarify that we did our best to meet your expectations and we are sorry that eventually, did not succeeded it. Furthermore, according to the Greek legislation and the smoking law, smoking is forbidden in closed public or private places. However, our guests may smoke in all open-air areas of our resort. This is the reason why in a non-smoking room an ashtray is available on the balcony table. However, we will take into consideration your feedback as we totally respect non-smokers. Fantastic Hotel

Pros: Clean, comfortable, great service.
Cons: With 6 pools on the site I would've loved one of them to have a pool bar. Not a big problem though.
Location: Close to, but also reassuringly a few hundred metres from the lively bars, clubs and restaurants of the main resort. They are there if you want them.
We were here in May. The hotel is very large, with 6 pools and 6 restaurants. Because it was the start of the season we had the place practically to ourselves, and it was easy for the staff to provide excellent service. I can imagine that it would be more of a challenge for them at the height of the season when there are thousands of guests, but I have no reason to believe they wouldn't cope. There is a private beach as well which is clean, but as with most of Crete it is shingle rather than sandy. Kids can't make sand castles :)

Moreover, we would also like to mention that the beach in front of Creta Maris consists mainly from sand (250m sandy & 100m peddles). hotel village close to beach

Pros: staff,room,on the beach
Cons: no paper cups in the rooms for tea etc. open full restaurant to all customers
Location: nice 15 minute walk to town and nice walk along the coast the other way
this is a very large holiday village linked by two bridges over the main road with friendly staff and great facilities. if you have kids there is good entertainment provided and if you like things on a large scale it would suit you. the food was good to start with but got very repetitive as time went on and the busier the hotel became the quality of the food dropped but it is not surprising considering the amount of people in the main restaurant . it felt like feeding of the masses at the end and just trying to find a table for two became a chore as some seating was cordened off for regular customers.the alacart restaurant were better and so was the late buffet restaurant Almyra. just too big for us.paper cups for tea and coffee in the room was dissapointing for a 5 star hotel but that is nit picking a bit. on the whole i would say it probably 4 star.

Pros: The atmosphere.
Cons: I would recommend more seafood.
Location: The location is great. The town is cute and perfect for little gift shopping.
The place is very nice. The whole staff is very friendly and nice. Awesome location with beautiful views . Perfect place for a family vacation .

Excellent!

Pros: The room, food, choice of restaurants, cleanliness and above all the people!
The hotel has so many facilities it keeps everyone entertained. We had a great ground floor room with the view of the pool and the sea. It was very relaxing. Staff were very friendly and always helpful. There were quite a few families with children as well as couples of all ages. This hotel caters for everyone. My husband and I would definitely visit the hotel again. Thank you.

Great place for a family vacation

The resort as great place for families, just not at the low season as many of the facilities are close and it's not so possible to use the pools. The veraity of food is tremendous so anyone can find something to eat.
