Great location, but the hotel is in need of updating. The hotel room feels "old."

Thank you Highlands Inn

This hotel gets extra marks to make up for Hotels.com's mistake. Evidently it takes time for reservations to get to the actual hotel and if you make your your plans last minute they may actually be sold out....especially in small markets on peak weekends. Upon arriving they had never heard of me so luckily their sister hotel had a cancellation. Double check your reservations with the actual hotel!

Hotel is showing it's age!

Pros: Location,location location.
Cons: The hotel is in need of some repairs and while everything works the lobby area could use a serous update. The free continental breakfast was lacking.
Location: Several good dining experiences are within walking distance. The shopping is good but a bit pricey. Plenty of scenery and nice hiking trails.
Staff were very nice and polite on checkin and we were given the type of room requested. Checkin was very easy but collecting the room fee at checkin is a bit old fashioned. The location of the hotel is excellent and the room was clean and tidy. A rolling chair at the computer desk would be greatly appreciated. Also, a secure WiFi link would be nice because the open link now used is too easy to hack. Highlands is always an expensive place to stay because there is limited availability of chain hotels. Every hotel in town seems to be owned by only one or two organizations so there is little incentive for competition. Frankly a nice Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn, or Comfort Inn would have best the socks off this hotel at half the price. Highlands wake up you are loosing market to other nearby towns which are much less difficult reach.

Not accommodating

Last minute need to cancel the reservation was denied by the general manager of the hotel. Big chains get it but the little ones don't

The only problem was that they had no record of my expedia confirmed reservation. Don't know what the problem was but doubt if I will use you again

Pros: The location was great. it was just a couple of blocks from the center of town.
Cons: It needs renovation.
Location: Downtown Highlands is a charming Mountain town with a downtown area loaded with great shops, charming buildings and great food.
Staff was pleasant and responsive to our needs. Location was great: just a couple of blocks from Highlands downtown. The rooms were dated and very small. The beds were adequate, however, the walls in the rooms were paper thin. We had an issue with the toilet backing up in the middle of the night. Had to call the desk for a plunger which was promptly delivered. Then we had to use ourselves to keep the toilet from overflowing.
