Great to stay in an authentic Hawaiian owned hotel

Posted Oct 1, 2017
We had a beautiful welcome, so friendly and genuine it was so much nicer than other hotels we stayed at on the islands. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were happy, relaxed and kind. Hotel was clean with basic rooms, we only stayed one night, Some road noise from main road and locals hanging out on a Saturday night. Great views and right on the waterfront. Used the restaurant for brekkie and dinner, much cheaper than other hotels and fresher food too! Glad we found you!

It was fine

Posted Sep 29, 2017
Pros: Ceiling fan over the bed, staff was nice, patios for every room (I think), water in reception with fruit.
Location: It's ~a mile away from Hilo/Hilo bay area and a half hour drive to Hawaii Volcano National Park. Several restaurants/nice garden in walking distance.
Room was comfortable enough and the ceiling fan over the bed was a nice touch. Our room's patio overlooked the Koi Pond and had a view of the across the street. Hilo Bay is within walking distance but you might want to drive to get there. Several restaurants in walking distance. Garden/park down the street is a nice walk. Restaurant attached to the hotel was pretty good/good enough for grabbing something after a long day hiking around the volcanoes or driving across the island.

Nice hotel

Posted Sep 25, 2017
Pros: Location, spacious room, restaurant, close to everything
Cons: Furnitures are from the 80s
Location: beaches, restaurants, shopping, active volcano, seeing lava flow, biking
The location is great, 5 minutes to the airport, 5 minutes to beaches and actually some beaches are walking distance or you can jump into the ocean right in front of the hotel. The active volcano site is 30 minutes drive. The restaurant and shopping stores are close by. Hotel is clean, the staff is very friendly, rooms are comfortable and spacious, but future looks like it's from the 80s and needs some upgrade. The hotel has a restaurant with an ocean view that offers breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Quaint & Well Maintained

Posted Sep 21, 2017
Pros: Gardens and attentive staff
Cons: Bathrooms could use updating.
Location: There are number of beach parks nearby, Ken's, a famous 24-hour eatery is walking distance and you're right that on Rt. 11 for easy access.
Don't judge a book by it's cover. When you first see the Hilo Seaside you might think it's not going to be a good experience, but once you go in, you find an attractive well maintained property with good staff. It is an older hotel, and that means it has more character. Inside are courtyard gardens that are extremely well maintained, a nice pool as well. The lobby is airy and faces the ocean and there is also a koi pond with a walk-way.
