Not a Holiday Inn like I am used to staying.

The hotel is tucked back behind the target and can be hard to find. As you pull up the hotel appears to be in great condition & the lobby is up to date and very nice. When I came in (11 pm) I had been driving for 6 hours and had to wait for 20+minutes for someone to come out of there office so that I could check in. I stayed on the fourth floor, as soon as the elevator doors opened the whole perspective of the hotel changed. I don't know if they have recently converted to non smoking or what but the entire vestibule, hallway, & my room itself smelt like complete cigarette smoke. This wasn't just the smell of someone recently smoking in it, I felt like I could smell the last 10 years of cigarettes that have been smoked there.
I work for a paint contracting company and have helped multiple hotels make the conversion from smoking to non smoking and I could not believe that they had not done something about it.
I got in at around 11 pm on a Thursday night and after a lot of driving I enjoy being able to relax & enjoy a few beers. Even it being a Thursday night the hotel is located within 4 minutes of 2 different bars that actually had some sort of a crowd. That was surprising to see on a Thursday night. So the hotel location was good for me and kept me from having to go all the way into Hilton head.
