A very poorly maintained and shabby property, with staff who did not seem to care at all, when they could be found. I will never stay here again. The best that can be said of it, is that is was not overtly dirty.

budget hotel without being 'cheap' feeling
second stay at this hotel, and still is a good value choice. Although a very business / working man's hotel with no restaurant, it's clean and very convenient to the train station, markets, stores, and food and a 20 minute walk to Himeji Castle. Room was surprisingly large and included a microwave and small sink. Washers and dryers on several floors is also a bonus, as well as vending machines for that late nite drink. Most inexpensive hotel in all my 16 day stay, but it's definitely not a 'cheap' feeling. If ever back in Himeji, definitely will consider staying here again.

Hotel overall is ok but the room comfort was not ok. Bed was very hard and tiny. Could barely fit us. Room was clean. The hotel does not have blockout curtains and the curtain installed was tiny. There was no way to stop the light from coming in. So overall the comfort factor was not there. Staff hardly understand English.

Good hotel near train station and restaurants
Hotel livemax is placed conveniently near the JR station and loads of restaurants. Wedding distance to Himeji castle. The friendly staff let us leave our luggage at the hotel before check in time. The rooms are compact typical of Japan but clean and comfortable. There is a mini kitchen in the wardrobe! Would recommend.

Convenient hotel for short stay in himeiji
The hotel location was very convenient , just a few minutes walk from the himeiji train station. At this price, it is pretty good and I am not expecting anything fancy. At least it is better than the budget hotels in Tokyo as I can open up my suitcase and put it on the suit rack. The bed might be a bit small for large guys as its 1.2m X 1.83m.

Optimal solution for short stay in Himeji
If you're thinking of visiting Himeji (which I would completely recommend in general, the castle is magnificent), you're probably only planning to stay for one night. Keep it simple - stay here, unless you've got bags of money to burn. Rooms are good for the price. It's located very close to the railway station, and is a short and pleasant walk up to the Castle. Top tip: in tourist seasons, stay here for the night before to arrive early at the Castle and beat the crowds.

The hotel is central and easy to get to from Himeji Castle and the railway station. Whilst a budget hotel, it is comfortable and clean. It is close to a supermarket and a variety of restaurants, along with the gentleman's entertainment district.

Conveniently located. However a bit hard to find.
The hotel is very close to the castle and the train station. There are many restaurants within the walking distance. The room is small but good for one person. However, it is not on the main street. So be sure remember the way of going back to the hotel.

Impressive stay
I stayed there for just 1 night but it was enough to feel impressed by the hotel staffs. The hotel is in a walking distance from Himeji JR Station. There are many restaurants and shops nearby the hotel. The staffs, though don't speak English efficiently but very eager to help with smiles on their faces. All is well.

A short walk from the station. Quite a small room, very clean. The bed is rather small for two average size westerners (we are not large). Friendly,helpful staff, not much English spoken. Overall, reasonable for the price.

Paid CAD95 for 2 nights semi-double room for one person. Room comes with a simple kitchen (microwave, sink, hot plate n fridge). New hotel. Great value, good location 5min walk to Himeji JR station and 10min walk to Himeji Castle. Daiso and many stores around the corner. Left a wifi router in the room when checked out. Hotel has a system to keep all customers' belongings. I came back after 10days to pick up. Great service!

Good Hotel
Livemax seem to be a bit of a budget chain, we stayed in 2 different branches during the trip. Both were clean, comfortable and had helpful staff. The location is about 10 mins walk from the station and the castle.

Convenient location. Easy walk to train station, Himeji Castle, & shopping arcade. Bowling alley across street. Standard business hotel: good service, narrow rooms, clean facilities. We decided to spend a night there after visiting the castle, which was a good call as seing the castle at night is a treat. The hotel is close by the station, no more than 5 min walk. The room felt new and although small, it was far more manageable than our previous night in Kyoto. All the amenities you need, including laundery and of course, 10 min walk to the castle (but then everything is 10 min walk from the castle). Good value for money in Japan

Super value in Himeji
Within an easy 5 minute walk from Himeji station, this hotel is excellent value for money and I highly recommend it. Typically well equipped as every Japanese hotel is in my experience, with staff as polite and helpful as possible. I have spent double the money on a hotel for only a slightly bigger room, which really isn't necessary. Hotels in this category are the best value for money. People intent on finding fault eventually come up with something but faults are much harder to find in Japan. Book sooner rather than later. Himeji is a very impressive small city, spacious, modern and with free bicycle hire. It is well worth at least 2 nights and a whole day............. Stay and enjoy!

Convenient hotel for a nights stay
Conveniently located and priced right, this hotel is just about 2 minutes away from the station as well as several arcade malls. Himeji Castle is about a 15 minute walk away which might have been further than initially planned, but was still doable. The hotel itself was recently built so rooms were clean and it had some nice conveniences like a self-serve washer and the biggest tv of all the rooms we stayed at. The only complaint was that the common areas were not as carefully cleaned as the rooms were, so a point off of that. If visiting Himeji again, I'd consider coming back to this hotel.
