Pros: The location was great for Charleston and the room and hotel overall were first class.
Cons: The quality of the toilet paper needs to be upgraded. Everything else was first class.
The hotel was great and is in a location that is within walking distance of a large number of restaurants and museums. We enjoyed our stay in Charleston and would not hesitate to stay at the Belmond if we come back.

Location: The hotel is perfectly situated downtown, next to the Market, with King Street out the front door. You can even walk to the Battery on a pretty day.
From the front desk to the bellhop, and everyone in between, we could not have encountered more accommodating, professional kindnesses. Thank you Charleston Belmond for a beautiful stay. We have been guests for years, off and on. The renovations create a modern yet timeless sophistication....and soothing guest rooms.

Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Everything but the staff in particular..
The check-in staff tried to convince us that the hotel wasn't part of Expedia's VIP+ when we asked whether we were getting the upgrade. I had to pull my Expedia app. and show her, after which she "upgraded" us to a same room with a balcony (big enough to barely fit one adult) facing the parking tower. The room next to us had construction of some sort going on. Horrible experience overall.

I am so sorry to see you did not enjoy your stay with us! Please excuse our Front Desk Agent for the miscommunication regarding our cooperation with Expedia's VIP Program. We do participate in Expedia's VIP+ program; however, we rely solely on Expedia to connect your VIP+ status to the reservation. Unfortunately this information was not attached to the reservation we received. In these rare cases, we do require confirmation of your VIP status in order to receive any amenities or upgrades, which is why you were required to pull up your app. Our intention is to make things as smooth as possible during check-in, but occasionally we do not meet that ideal. I apologize for any inconvenience. The upgrade you received was a one-category upgrade to a Premier Balcony room, which is what we offer our Expedia VIP+ guests. I apologize that you found your accommodation lacking. Due to local building ordinances, we only have Juliet balconies, which are quite small. Please know we are available 24 hours a day to address any issues you may have with your accommodations; and would have been happy to move you to your originally booked room category, or to another Premier Balcony room that you found more comfortable. We appreciate you taking the time to give us your candid feedback, and will work to improve our check-in processes. We would love to see you again next time you find yourself in Charleston!

Fish restaurant

I really enjoyed this hotel. Hospitality,Spacious,Cleanness and convenience all are excellent. I would like to come back again. Near the hotel there is nice fish restaurant whose name is Hyman’s. I enjoyed it very much.

Fantastic hotel - beautiful and managable size. The staff were so friendly. If you can upgrade to the CLUB level definitely do that. You'll have free alcohol (bartended bar) from 11am-10pm each day in addition to breakfast, lunch, tea time sandwiches etc as well as dessert. Great feature. Walkable to all the great restaurants and everything in Charleston

Anniversary/Engagement weekend

Pros: Location, Club Level amenities, Christmas decorations
Cons: close the doors when it is freezing outside!! Seriously, the doors at front desk area rarely closed due to traffic - it was cold!
Location: King St on one side and Meeting St on the other - What is not to do?
39th Anniversary trip got combined with daughter's engagement....Wonderful trip to one of our favorite cities in the world...

Belmond at Christmas

Pros: Classy and well located.. Nice roof top bar
Location: Very well located. Next to the famous market and easily walkable down King Street.
The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. I would definitely stay there again. The staff and dining facilities are exceptional. We did have an issue with the water faucet in our room but it was handled professionally. We self parked in the garage next door and walked the city.. A perfect location.

This hotel sets the standards. Outstanding. Hotel is impeccably clean an staff is trained to offer the best service to their guests. Guests are made to feel like royalty.
