Charming B&B in a great location!

The Elliot House Inn was very charming! Great location and friendly staff. The complimentary wine and cheese in the evening was very enjoyable. I definitely recommend this place!

Location is fantastic - we walked to absolutely everything we wanted to see in Charleston. It is immediately adjacent to Husk, one of the most sought after dinner reservations in Charleston. Rooms are nicely appointed. Small courtyard and nightly wine and cheese is great way to relax and meet a few fellow travellers. Staff were very friendly and happy to show their pride and knowledge with respect to all things Charleston.

Great staff and location, subpar rooms

Posted Apr 14, 2017 on Hotels
This hotel has a lot to offer, but to say it is a 4 star facility is not accurate, 3 stars would even be a stretch. I'll start with the pros, because they do go a long way. The staff is very friendly and helpful, parking is a breeze with a city garage across the street, bicycles available to borrow is very convenient, the location truly can not be beat, breakfast is tasty and the afternoon wine and cheese in the courtyard is a nice touch. The cons are pretty much limited to the room itself. The property is dated- I realize this is a historic building in a historic city- but the rooms are not well maintained. The bathroom was tiny, the tub had been painted and the paint was chipped and peeling off. There is also a ridiculously loud fan that is wired with the light, if you have the light on in the bathroom don't plan to have a conversation with anyone in the room- you won't be able to hear them over the fan. The mini fridge and window AC unit were also unbearably loud- either plan to force it to run all night or not at all- if it kicks on and off you will get zero sleep. The rug looked like it hadn't been vacuumed, the linens were very rough and the bed and pillows were average at best.

Very enjoyable stay

Posted Apr 13, 2017 on Hotels
The hotel was very nice, great location, had a B&B style with complimentary breakfast (which was tasty!) and wine/cheese reception in the evening. The rooms were small but we were only there to sleep. Unfortunately, we stayed in a room next to the road so we heard the trucks coming by and getting trash at like 7am. Other than that, it was a good stay and we'd stay there again.

Lovely historic hotel in the historic area.

Pros: The interior courtyard was lovely. The breakfasts were wonderful, and I enjoyed the daily wine and cheese reception. I met very interesting people.
Cons: The mattress was quite firm, a bit too firm for me.
Location: Location is convenient to everything you would want to see and visit in historic Charleston. Great restaurants nearby.
Very nice experience. I would stay there again. The staff was pleasant and helpful. There was a good restaurant next door from which I could order room service.

Wonderful place to stay in Charleston

Posted Mar 28, 2017
Our stay at Elliott House Inn was wonderful! The staff was extremely attentive and helpful right from the start! The room and the courtyard were charming! Breakfast served to your room or the courtyard was delicious! A perfect start to the day! The evening wine and cheese in the courtyard was a great way to relax after a day in town! We will definitely stay there when we return to Charleston!
