Perfect Inn

Posted Apr 22, 2018
Loved this Inn. Very convenient to the historic area, shopping, restaurants etc. Staff was tremendous. Enjoyed continental breakfasts, happy hours in the lovely courtyard, and complimentary use of bicycle. Room was very comfortable. Mathew and Neal were wonderful! Added bonus was Neal’s historical perspectIve. Would definitely stay there again as it offers the welcoming atmosphere one expects from Charleston.

The location was excellent, in the middle of the historic downtown with good restaurants right next door. The courtyard and outdoor fireplace provided a pleasant venue to enjoy the free wine and cheese at happy hour. The room was quite dark and spartanly furnished without even a chair. Breakfast choices were very average but served punctually to our room or in the courtyard at the time requested. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. We did not feel that value for money was provided because of the dark, barely furnished room and the basic breakfast.

Thank you for your review about your recent stay. I'm sorry that we did not meet your expectations. However, I'm glad the location, wine and cheese, courtyard and friendly service helped with your overall stay. All the rooms have been recently renovated, so we will make sure that our designer knows about the lighting and the furniture. While we did not meet your expectations this time, I hope that you will give us another chance in the future.

Cozy B&B

Posted Apr 1, 2018
Location is great! It’s within walking distance to many downtown establishments. Overnight parking available in garage across the street. Very cute courtyard area to hang out in. Our shower had a drainage problem. Their own engineer tried to fix it but a professional was needed. We appreciated that they offered for us to move to another room. The cleanliness of the bathrooms could be improved as residual hair was left behind. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay. Would recommend with a few minor improvements.

Thank you for writing about your recent stay with us. I'm glad that you enjoyed your time with us. I'm sorry that their was a drainage issue with the shower, but I'm glad that we were able to have it fixed. I'm sorry that you had a cleaning issue this is not something that happens often, and a problem that we take very seriously. We hope that you will choose to stay with us again, the next time you are in Charleston.

Key West Style

Pros: Location
Cons: Hot coffee/tea available at night like a Keurig pot in the courtyard. We were there when it was chilly out. Maybe discount for parking in garage?
Location: Shopping, restaurants and nice walking in all directions
Rooms are very clean, bathrooms are great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your kind words about your recent stay. Unfortunately, parking is not readily available in the city, and we are fortunate to three parking facilities within a hundred yards of the property. We have someone staffed twenty-four hours, so if you would like coffee or tea throughout the day, we can always make it available. Once again, thank you for taking the time to write about your stay.

Thank you so much for your kind words about your recent stay with us. We are so happy that you enjoyed yourself while you were with us. The breakfast is small and light to get you up and going. The parking deck is directly across the street, which is currently twenty dollars per twenty-four hours.

Noisy,

Posted Mar 5, 2018
Pros: Location in historic district , breadfast, and afternoon happy hour (complimentary)
Cons: Need to make rooms soundproof.
Paper thin walls enable you to hear everyone outside and the restaurant staff next door during their breaks. very difficult to get a good nights sleep. Lost one nights sleep that ruined stay.

I'm sorry that you did not fully enjoy your stay with us. We never want any of our guests to have a terrible experience or feel that they can't talk to the staff when a problem arises, which is the reason why we have someone staffed twenty-four hours. The building was built in the 1860s and we are surrounded by restaurants in the middle of a busy city, and the weekend this guest was here, there was a festival. This guest was offered an opportunity to switch rooms, they denied. When we offered to help them find another place to stay that would have been more suitable to their needs, they denied. We spoke with the manager of Husk and they would make sure that their staff was quieter the next day, which they must have been because the reviewer did not complain about the second night stay. We also made sure that our night-time staff paid extra close attention to noise around this particular guest's room on their second night. In essence, while we hope everyone thoroughly enjoys their time with us, if you do not tell the staff that there is an issue during the time of the issue, it is impossible for us to help. While I hope this guest gives us another try, I understand that we are not a perfect fit for everyone.

First, the unpleasantries…

Posted Feb 27, 2018
Pros: Location
Upon arriving in our room, there was an unpleasant odor, mixed with the smell of cleaning products. Hoping it would dissipate, we decide to take a short nap. However, after an hour, the smell persisted making it impossible to sleep or even stay in the room. I went to the front desk and spoke with whom I guess was the General Manager. She questioned me about the odor, which felt more like an interrogation—especially strange, since she never investigated the source of the smell herself. After finally relenting, she agreed to let us switch rooms, but not without scolding me first, “I wish you had let me know before, now we have to remake the room!” Shortly after switching rooms, I noticed I’d forgotten my phone charger in our previous room. I made a second trip to the front desk to see the General Manager. She walked me over to the room so I could retrieve my phone charger. In an attempt to mend fences (a habit from when I was in the hospitality) I apologized for being such a bother and in return I received a patronizing “Bless your heart.” That being said, the location is amazing. And for the price the rooms are adequate, as we were out for most of the day. Neal hand-drew us a map of historic sights, while Jeremy and the woman who made up our room were sweet and accommodating. I wish the same could be said for the General Manger, bless her heart.

I'm sorry you were upset with the smell in the rooms. We opened the hotel after a 7 week closing to renovate. Apart of this renovation was painting every guest room. While I was explaining this, my concern is that you would have this same issue with every room, as they were all painted during our closing. In turn, I must have given you the impression of an interrogation with my concern about this issue happening in the neighbor room that you would be moving to. I'm sorry. Yes, I said Bless Your Heart, as we joked when you were in the room. I'm sorry, I was born in the south. I hope you'll give us another try, I think you'll begin to find some of that southern charm quite contagious.
