Welcoming historic inn

Posted Aug 24, 2017
Pros: The staff, location and breakfast.
Cons: Offer of light snacks and beverage in afternoon or early evening for guests would be nice. There is coffee available, if requested.
Location: The inn is also in a very convenient and safe area near many historic and interesting sights.
Marcus made us feel welcomed from the time we entered this gorgeous B&B. When we arrived, a guest was playing the piano, which added something special to our check-in. The main rooms and bedrooms are filled with historic items and pictures. We stayed in the Johnny Mercer Room, a king junior suite, filled with period furniture and antiques. Very cozy and clean with a comfortable bed. We stayed four nights and the breakfasts were delicious and perfectly presented, from the rolled veggie omelet to the baked French toast with an oats, apple and dried cranberry compote. The staff were helpful, professional and friendly the entire visit.

Hi Susan, We are so happy that you enjoyed your time with us in Savannah. Our staff and our guests are family to us and I think that it shows in how eager we are to make sure that every guest feels at home. We recently took over the Inn and we have some exciting plans for the near future. We hope to have our bar license soon and be able to offer even more to our guests and friends. We are always happy to share our breakfast recipes. Send us an email if you would like and we are happy to help you to bring a price of the Dresser Palmer House to your breakfast table.

On the western edge of the historic Dist.

Posted Aug 23, 2017
Pros: The staff and the ambience. Wonderful history too!
Cons: Cleaning staff could pay a bit more detail to things. Not bad but could be a bit better
Location: The architecture was wonderful. We went for our anniversary and had lots of fun. Plenty of history which was our attraction in the first place.
Wonderful people, fun and easy to talk to. Very helpful with the sights and ideas of what to do.

Friendly staff but home in need of work

Posted Aug 23, 2017
While my husband and I found the Inn's staff to be very friendly and helpful, we were disappointed that the home reflects deferred maintenance. There is dry rot surrounding the home, even on the interior of the window sills in our room. To be honest, the inn is not really what we considered to be a comfortable walk to the water or shops & restaurants. Additionally, on site parking is not likely. While there are four small spaces behind the home, they were literally never open so the closest parking lot is a block walk which would be fine if you're not lugging suitcases. Lastly on the negative side, walls are thin so when the guests next to you come home drunk and want to continue the party in the hallway and room, there will be no sleep for you.. However, this is the potential downside of booking any B&B. On a more positive note, the bathrooms were completely redone and looked great. The bed was comfortable and our room, the largest was quite spacious. While it appeared the hall and staircase hadn't been swept or vacuumed during our stay, our room was clean. I hope the new owners find the financial means to take of some deferred maintenance.

Great B&B

Posted Jun 30, 2017
Had a great experience here. Breakfast was delicious every morning and staff were great. The room could use some TLC but overall it was clean and comfortable. The new owners are planning on some updates and TLC. When that is done it will definitely be a 5 star rating on everything. I would stay here again and would recommend others staying here if you like the B&B experience and staying in historical homes.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your feedback. Since we took over ownership of the property just a couple of weeks ago, guest feedback is vital to helping us to improve and grow. We already have several projects underway to take the Dresser Palmer House from a great Inn to an amazing one. We are delighted that you enjoy our home-cooked breakfasts and we look forward to impressing you even more on your next visit.

the house itself was awesome and a nice walk to downtown the people were very nice and helpful. I was expecting a little more food from the breakfast, but that may be just the continental part of it

Thank you so much for your feedback and kind words. Since we bought the Inn a couple of weeks ago we have been making some exciting improvements, breakfast being the first one. We can't wait to have you back and treat you to our home-cooked traditional southern breakfasts with a gourmet flair. Every day is a new and exciting menu, and I promise, no one leaves our breakfast table hungry.

Thank you so much for the thumbs up on our staff, the check-in process and our location! We love our quiet residential area with easy walking to all things Savannah! Our house was built in 1773 when one bathroom for the entire home was standard. Today's guests require private bathrooms which means we have to take space from the room to offer a private bath. Yes that does mean that some rooms are smaller than others and so are priced accordingly. We assumed management of the inn on June 1, 2017 and have been working as quickly as possible to add to the already extensive offerings here at the Dresser Palmer House. Our line of bathroom products is from Gilchrist & Soames and include shampoo, conditioner, soap, body scrub and lotion. Towels, bathmats, hand towels and face clothes are changed daily if the guest leaves them on the floor or every other day if the guest hangs them up. Each room has a hair dryer as well. It would be very helpful if you let us know what else you think would add to the ambience of the room. We would ask our guests to please share your pleasures and concerns with us during your stay - we are here to provide the best B&B experience possible and your feedback helps us continue the journey to excellence. Warm regards, Teresa Jacobson General Manager

Beautiful Historic Inn with great staff

Posted Jun 18, 2017 on Hotels
Mixed review for this beautiful historic inn since most of the minor issues we had should be fixed by new management that had taken over just a few days before we stayed. Inn is beautiful with historic decor and furnishings. Staff were fantastic and cook a hot fresh breakfast in the morning. Got upgraded from a basement room. Room was lovely but had minor issues such as cable TV not working [prior management issue] and missing lightbulbs. Location was great for walking around historic district and down to river. Only 3 parking spots [plus a disabled space] at Inn but car parking provided one block away. Room we had definitely not for anyone slightly disabled as claw foot bathtub/shower and super high bed are hard to get in/out of. At 5'4" I had to pull myself up onto bed so if this is an issue check with hotel before you go as each room has different features.

Hi Yvonne, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I have to say that you wrote a very fair review and I appreciate your candidness. I would like you to know that since your stay we have resolved all of these minor issues that we found as we took over the Inn. Not only did we resolve these minor inconveniences, we went a step further including recontacting with our cable provider for more offerings, adding smart TVs to many of the rooms, and we just ordered all new LED Edison Style light Bulbs to keep the historic feeling while remaining modern and environmentally conscious. While all of our bathrooms are recently remodeled and the majority have large Walk-in rain showers, there are a couple of rooms with original Claw Foot Tub/Shower Combos. We have since updated our room descriptions and website to try and make the details of each unique room a little bit more clear. We do recommend calling the hotel directly to guarantee a specific room, rather than just room type. We look forward to sharing these and many other exciting improvements on your next stay with us.

Perfect Savannah Getaway

Posted Jun 6, 2017 on Hotels
We were very happy with our choice! The room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. The breakfasts were amazing and we enjoyed meeting other guests. The host was friendly and helpful. The location was perfect; we could walk everywhere, but we do like to walk. It was a mile to the river. We liked the history of the house and felt like we had really stayed in Savannah (compared to chain hotels). I'd go back.
