Beautiful old building with a modern and very well finsihed bathroom including in our case a large walk in shower. The area is quiet and very safe. It is very enjoyable to walk the area and view all the old houses and the park-like squares that come up every few streets. There are a couple of very close by restaurants, thae majority of them are however about 20 minutes walk away. Never the less, we walked everywhere and the car never moved after we arrived.

Thank you Gary for your thoughtful review of our inn. We love our location because everything you would want to see is between our inn and the River. Savannah was made for walking and that's just what we encourage our guests to do. You will miss so much if you try to see our city from the inside of a car. We look forward to seeing you again one day and getting your impressions of the improvements we will have made by then.

Rustic mansion in historic district

Posted Oct 27, 2017
I stayed at the Dresser Palmer for almost a week during a conference, and had a very nice experience. The building and rooms were beautiful, and the bathtub is a luxury which I will not experience again any time soon. Breakfasts were good, but typically came out ~15 minutes after the designated time which made it difficult sometimes to attend given that this was a business trip. When I was able to attend, they were quite good and the company was relaxed. We always had a nice chat. There were always free deserts, tea, etc. The staff was either extraordinarily friendly or a tad cold. I don't say this to detract anyone from staying here, but more to help the hotel with their quality. Overall I highly recommend staying here!

Your review of our bed and breakfast was so lovely and thoughtful, thank you! We are sorry that we ran behind in the kitchen while you were here. We are all new to this kitchen and are still working out a few of the kinks and peculiarities of the appliances. Give us just a bit more time and we promise - food will arrive on time and hot! We do take our guest suggestions to heart and it is our goal to have all of our innkeepers present a warm welcome and interactions throughout a guest stay. It is very important that we as a team keep your comfort in mind. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to help our innkeepers grow.

Welcoming historic inn

Posted Aug 24, 2017
Pros: The staff, location and breakfast.
Cons: Offer of light snacks and beverage in afternoon or early evening for guests would be nice. There is coffee available, if requested.
Location: The inn is also in a very convenient and safe area near many historic and interesting sights.
Marcus made us feel welcomed from the time we entered this gorgeous B&B. When we arrived, a guest was playing the piano, which added something special to our check-in. The main rooms and bedrooms are filled with historic items and pictures. We stayed in the Johnny Mercer Room, a king junior suite, filled with period furniture and antiques. Very cozy and clean with a comfortable bed. We stayed four nights and the breakfasts were delicious and perfectly presented, from the rolled veggie omelet to the baked French toast with an oats, apple and dried cranberry compote. The staff were helpful, professional and friendly the entire visit.

Hi Susan, We are so happy that you enjoyed your time with us in Savannah. Our staff and our guests are family to us and I think that it shows in how eager we are to make sure that every guest feels at home. We recently took over the Inn and we have some exciting plans for the near future. We hope to have our bar license soon and be able to offer even more to our guests and friends. We are always happy to share our breakfast recipes. Send us an email if you would like and we are happy to help you to bring a price of the Dresser Palmer House to your breakfast table.

On the western edge of the historic Dist.

Posted Aug 23, 2017
Pros: The staff and the ambience. Wonderful history too!
Cons: Cleaning staff could pay a bit more detail to things. Not bad but could be a bit better
Location: The architecture was wonderful. We went for our anniversary and had lots of fun. Plenty of history which was our attraction in the first place.
Wonderful people, fun and easy to talk to. Very helpful with the sights and ideas of what to do.

Schedule your breakfast

Posted Aug 23, 2017 on Hotels
Southern hospitality only applies if you are white. For aparently no reason they keep scheduling our breakfast at 10am We had to buy our own breakfast near by. Got some really bad vibes

Friendly staff but home in need of work

Posted Aug 23, 2017
While my husband and I found the Inn's staff to be very friendly and helpful, we were disappointed that the home reflects deferred maintenance. There is dry rot surrounding the home, even on the interior of the window sills in our room. To be honest, the inn is not really what we considered to be a comfortable walk to the water or shops & restaurants. Additionally, on site parking is not likely. While there are four small spaces behind the home, they were literally never open so the closest parking lot is a block walk which would be fine if you're not lugging suitcases. Lastly on the negative side, walls are thin so when the guests next to you come home drunk and want to continue the party in the hallway and room, there will be no sleep for you.. However, this is the potential downside of booking any B&B. On a more positive note, the bathrooms were completely redone and looked great. The bed was comfortable and our room, the largest was quite spacious. While it appeared the hall and staircase hadn't been swept or vacuumed during our stay, our room was clean. I hope the new owners find the financial means to take of some deferred maintenance.
