The staff was very accommodating and well informed. The location of the hotel right by the river and the access to the various square located nearby makes it a very good spot to stay when you visit Savannah. A short drive and you are at the very eastern tip of Georgia. Short walk to various restaurants.

River street view!

Posted Jan 17, 2018
Pros: We loved that we could park and not use our car again. We walked everywhere. The rooms were very quiet. How helpful everyone was.
Cons: Our room really could have stood to be re painted. The Pea green accent walls were unflattering to the vintage feel and were easily dinged up.
Location: Shop, sight see and dine. Enjoyed the ghost tour.
We arrived early and we were able to park and store our luggage until we could officially check in, we were even offered a river front room at no extra charge! The beds were very comfortable and the room seemed clean. Everyone we ran into that worked there were super friendly and polite. We would come back in an instant!

Beautiful hotel with a few minor flaws

Posted Jan 17, 2018
Very charismatic and great atmosphere but a couple little issues that were easy fixes, but inconvenient. The uppermost hinge on the door to our room was loose - and the doors are solid wood, so to shut the door you had to pull the top half of the door toward the hinge and slam the door. Again, not a big deal but an inconvenience and a part of feedback.

The best of Savanna

Posted Jan 16, 2018
The staff was amazing...one of the friendliest and accommodating group of people we have ever encountered. So convenient to everything and attached to restaurants and stores.

Overpriced, very difficult to find lobby entrance

Posted Jan 15, 2018
Pros: View
Cons: Cleanliness, better directions, tips about where to go on arrival and instructions on how to access different areas from the hotel
We arrived in the evening after dark and parked at the closest parking garage and proceeded to walk to the hotel, which was 0.1 mile away. It took us over 30 minutes to find the entrance after going up and down the dangerous historic steps at least 3 times. There was no entrance on River Street. The entrance is on Bay Street and you must walk through the park and across a foot bridge to a very small lobby entrance with very discreet signage difficult to see in the dark. The night shift front desk worker was not extremely pleasant and she offered no apologies after being told of our trouble. The front desk worker the next morning was very pleasant and helpful. He explained how to get down to River Street and where the elevator for this was located and how you had to have your room key to access. Overall, the hotel is nice and historic with great river views, but not worth the price paid.

Thank you for staying with us Debbie. We are sorry you had difficulty finding the loading and unloading zone directly in front of the lobby, where our valet awaits our incoming guests. We do have a Bay Street address on Expedia, Google, and our website. Being a 200 year old building in a historic district, we must abide by certain city regulations on signage and lighting. Thank you for your feedback.

Excellent location. Beautiful historic hotel.

Posted Jan 15, 2018
We had a lovely brief stay at the River Street Inn. The rooms are spacious and quiet, and the hotel staff warm and accommodating. The 200-Year-old building has been extensively remodeled, and the five-story open lobby was gorgeous. The hotel is right on River and Bay Steets, in the heart of historic and romantic Savannah. There are two restaurants on site, and we had an excellent breakfast at one (Huey’s). We live nearby and have visited and stayed Savannah often, and thus was by far the best experience.

Comfy but old hotel

Posted Jan 15, 2018
We stayed 4.5 days - Keep in mind that this is a nice, clean but old hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The doorman “Chris” was great! Our first night in our room we had a major plumbing issue with the tube. Staff quickly responded and gave us a suite upgrade. They quickly gathered our belongings and had us set up in our new room within a few minutes. Staff cheerfully assisted us with planning several of our tours throughout our stay.

It was fun watching river traffic

Posted Jan 14, 2018
Pros: It’s location
Location: Close to restaurants and entertainment.
It was fun to see container ships coming and going. We didn’t rent a car but we could walk to anything we wanted to do. Great location.
