The interior of the room must have been well appointed once upon a time when it was still new. It is now kind of dated and the desk surface have lots of pits and scratches which made it semi hazardous when you were working on it.
This is still a small deal when compared to the totally worn out mattress. Not sure how many years ago it was first put into service but it has been evidently well used. The caved-in is so obvious you literally felt like sleeping in a wok. My wife who has no back issues could not handle it after a few nights and had to end up sleeping on the other end of the mattress which by the way was not much better.
I have slept in numerous Marriott brand hotels and this by far was the worst dilapidated mattress that I have ever encountered. I speculate that this hotel is doing a lot of one-off guests so sleep comfort might not be of a major concern to the management, although this is totally unacceptable and unbefitting to the Marriott brand and above all, to what their loyal customers' reasonable expectation.
