Acceptable/OK hotel with lots of restaurants

Posted Dec 1, 2016
Pros: We liked the fact that we could get a family room with four beds. We also liked the variety of restaurants within the hotel.
Cons: The hotel could use some cleaning and updating. Additionally, the hotel could be more generous with the internet device allowance per room.
Location: The hotel is located in Sha Tin surrounded by residential towers with not much to do nearby.
We were attending a conference nearby, which is the only reason we stayed in this area. Most of the conference guests stayed at the nearby Courtyard by Marriott which seemed to be a nicer and newer hotel; however, with fewer restaurant choices in the hotel. Fortunately, there were lots of restaurant choices within the Regal Riverside and most of the restaurants offered good deals to hotel guests. Breakfast was not included with our room package, but hotel guests were offered a reasonable HKD$90 per person rate for the buffet. Though we felt this was a decent deal of which we took advantage for several nights of our stay, the buffet was disappointing in terms of its consistency and staffing. We often found it difficult to locate a clean table (though there were always dozens of tables full of dirty dishes) and clean coffee mugs. There is not much to do in the vicinity, though there is a large mall and metro stations nearby, making all of the city easily accessible. Because there were four of us, we primarily relied upon taxis to get around. Our room was a family room with four individual beds, which we really appreciated. Though the room was fairly clean, it was tired and in need of an update. The daily cleaning was inconsistent but acceptable. Upon check-in, we were told that because we booked with Expedia, we would only be allowed two internet devices, which was quite frustrating for a family of four. Overall, we were neither impressed nor disappointed with the hotel.

Nice hotel overall.

Impressed with the service and hotel cleanliness. Family had fun and we will surely come back, will recommend to friends as well. There are small issues like requesting for toiletries and the same were not delivered. Front desk staff are superb and eceptionally helpful. Thank you.

Cons: check in時間太慢
check in太慢, 雖然reception已安排多人手, 但仍然等很久, 時間到了也遲遲未能拿到房間, 另外check out時要檢查房間也遲遲未能溝通好

Busy stay

close to river. nice people, but outdated furniture and very old fashioned band with bad (guest) dancers in the hotel bar that ruins the night. The so called free breakfast was really bad, no much stuff. The business lounge staff was not very polite, with poker face on all the time. They need to be replaced.

Value for money. It is recently near to Shatin city center, and not so crowded.

The quality is fine with the price

The hotel is old and the location is not very convenient, need to walk 20 min to the nearest train station. But with the price, it is ok.
