Nice historic hotel downtown Shanghai

Posted Dec 13, 2017
Pros: Historic building, close to town.
Cons: Update finishes.
Location: Bund, restaurants
Room was spacious and classically furnished. Some of the furniture, drapery, and lobby finishes were a bit worn, but to be expected in an older, historic hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating and spoke English which made check-in and out easier. I would stay at this hotel again.

Lovely old hotel and in a great location.

Posted Nov 3, 2017
Pros: The location is perfect and the amazing view of the Shanghai skyline, is just over the road.
Cons: The floor boards in my 4th floor room were very creaky and I didn't want to annoy the guests below. The wifi was very slow.
Location: Just off of the Bund and only 5 mins walk from East Nanjing Road were all the good shops etc are.
A lovely old hotel with oak walls and floors which creates that classic feel with modern facilities. Free upgrade to a huge family room too!

Steeped in atmosphere

Felt a bit like sleeping in a museum, which was kinda cool. Great location near the Bund. You get a big breakfast, not included, in the elaborate Peacock Hall. Staying at this hotel enriched our stay in Shanghai.

Very good position

Posted Oct 14, 2017
Especially if you want to be near the Bund A little far from metro station Breakfast very good - staff very nice - Room large but needs some attention as it was showing it's wear & tear. Reception area needs an upgrade & more guest lounge seating to relax in while waiting. It is oldly worldly with lots of character. Would stay there again

No hassles, good food, very clean and quaint. Historic old hotel nicely modernized. A short walk to Bund where you can go on river cruises or bus tours

historic hotel, great location

Posted Jun 3, 2017
Pros: the history, the location
Location: bund is right nearby; easy to walk to metro (subway) in about 5 minutes or so.
loved the room; hotel has lots of history, unique features; great museum about the hotel and the evolution of the bund region right in the hotel; fun to stay here! staff will turn down your bed in afternoon, give you next day's weather report. lots of neat hallways to explore--the hotel has some hidden corners, unique features, not like the new types of hotels where every floor is exactly the same!
