The Lodge’s pics look nice, but it needs a lot of work. We stayed in the Hibiscus villa. There were roaches throughout the room. Also, we had dinner at the hotel restaurant (Paddle House). One night during dinner the biggest roach crawled on my feet underneath the table. One of the servers stomped on the roach and kicked it outside. The hotel restaurant food is good, but you won’t want to eat there with roaches. People don’t pay to vacation with roaches.
Please note their sister properties, The Colonial & Almond Beach share the same restaurant.
There were also a number of issues at check-in. The room didn’t have two queens as confirmed prior to our arrival, the phone and television didn’t work, the door lock wasn’t functioning properly, and the windows wouldn’t open. My mom was actually stuck in the room because of the broken door lock. I couldn’t get her out. With the telephone not working and the windows not opening, this could have been very problematic. We spent the first night, dealing with hotel maintenance to get everything fixed. They were able to get my mom out.
The villa’s AC didn’t seem to work so well in the master bedroom. The villa needs better lighting. It’s way too dim. And please put a knob or handle on the closer door (very simple).
Edwin, the bartender, was especially helpful. Shakira tried to be somewhat helpful too. Chanel was not helpful at all.
The hotel has potential, but it needs to be exterminated, updated, & more helpful management.
