pretty basic but good and cheap

Posted Mar 30, 2018
Pros: Very good location, clean and economical. On a quiet little cul de sac adjacent to a marina where Iguanas sometimes hang out. Nice clean pool.
Cons: Wifi could be better and there are maintenance issues. Room fridges would be nice but limited space.
Location: Close to restaurants, convenience store and a mall. Ferry terminal is maybe 20 minute walk north. Tour operator just around the corner.
Initial reaction was OMG nasty. The place is a bit run down. Old furnishings, crumbling concrete in a few spots which should be repaired (exposed re-bar which is cancer for a building). I expected my room to have a balcony. Not all rooms have that, but the pool courtyard was just down a flight of stairs. Wifi does not work in rooms much at all but ok in the courtyard. My room could have been better but I didn't really spend much time in it anyways. Shower door would not stay shut, towel rod by the basin was missing. Very clean though. the maid was very friendly always smiling. Reception desk is helpful if you need directions or something. For the cost it's very good. Hotels in Cancun can be very pricey.

Ok place to stay near the beach

Posted Mar 20, 2018
Pros: The proximity to the beach and other places of interest.
Cons: The mattresses on the beds were hard.
We stayed for one night in this hotel. It was clean and had hot water and AC. We stayed in the double bed with a pool view. We really only used it to sleep. It was close to the Presidente hotel about 2 blocks away and we walked to the bus stop there to go to the markets/beach. The taxis were more expensive and we didn't mind the walking. There are places to eat around the corner as well as a money exchange/gas station. We got in the pool once it was dark and the pool closed at 9 PM. We had complimentary fruit plates and coffee in the morning. Overall, it is a good place to spend the night.

Room Quality

Posted Feb 21, 2018
Pros: Location was decent away from main road
Cons: Definitely needs updating in the first room we were in
Location: Was in the heart of things but fairly easy walk to them
When we first gor there they tried to put us in a room which was dirty blood on pillow 2 ac one newer than the other the older one was all rusted a grundgy looking, went down to complain and they said all they had was a bigger room but would cost more, then they came up with one right beside office which was real good for wifi probably the only room you'd get it in room, but it faced to the street and there was a lot of noise but this room was much nicer than the first.

Great location

Posted Dec 31, 2017 on Hotels
The location is pretty great. There are convenient stores, gas station, etc. around. About half a mile from a public beach and half a mile to a ferry station. Only thing I would do again is purchasing the breakfast included package.... not worth it.

Expedia ruined my booking

Posted Dec 30, 2017
After a day of travel, lost bags and a 2hr taxi wait we arrived at the hotel to find only one of two rooms booked. Expedia sent the wrong paperwork.. at 2am not impressed and looking forward to my refund.

Grand Royal Lagoon

not a good place! no hot water at check in and no stuff member could take care of the problem. Hot water was restored the next day, we stayed 2 nights, were leaving Cancun for a day, coming back for one more night a day later, made a venal reservation with the hotel stuff, we got back close to mid-night, there was no room available for us, we were tired but had to shop around for a place to stay.

If you are old couple then it's a good hotel. Rooms look like motels in US cheap. If you are young bunch of guys or friends going to Cancun DONT stay here. I would rate this hotel 2.8. Need major renovation on the lobby area and lobby area stinks. They use some rose fragnance to make it smell nice but it's horrible. Only good thing about the hotel is pool and restaurant, food was all inclusive.

The restaurant staff was not that courteous.

Pros: I liked it, given the fact that it had a swimming pool.
Cons: The TV sets in every room should be flat screen with a reasonable channel viewing choice.
Location: There was at least one convenience store nearby.
The hotel I stayed at was too distant from the beach. The TV in the room was not as functional as I expected to be. The TV was not flat screen and when I turned it on, I was only able to watch one channel.
