Family Cancun TripPosted Jan 20, 2018
Hotel is good-looking. Room comfortable, clean, with beach view. Beach access just a few steps away. The breakfast buffet was excellent every single morning. The pool/beach restaurant, and the room service food were ok, not too delicious. Lots of activities to do in Cancun. Joya cirque du soleil is great show, especially for children. Xcaret and Xelha are also a must family activity. Tulum is nice but would not recommend for handicap due to its rocky roads and few rocky stairs (but also worth a visit). Very few restaurants outside the hotel within walking distance but a little bit pricey. Taxi or bus can take you a little further out into the mercados which have more affordable shopping/souvenirs and cheap but delicious small restaurants worth the short trip (approximately 20 minutes away from hotel). I was not charged extra fees upon check-in or out which was a plus! Staff are helpful and kind. Would stay here again!

Nice hotel and friendly staffPosted Jan 14, 2018
There is a small warm pool near the beach. But sometimes there are many people. staff are friendly and never ask for tips, but if you give them two to three dollars, they will be very happy. The restaurants in the hotel is all very great, although they are a little expensive. The food in the Thai restaurant and the Japanese restaurant is fantastic. We love it. And the Champions, a American sport bar, have a large size burger. It is enough for you to only order one main plate, even you are extremely hungry. And the bar open to very late night and always open. The room is very clean and the staff clean it every single day. The bed is very comfortable. The spa in the hotel need reservations. Not suggest to go there. Cuz you may find other place which is nicer to do massage. Basically, it's everywhere. Most of the room are ocean view. And the night view in the room is very beautiful. You can always check the how many people are in the pool from you room. Wish you Have a nice trip to Cancun!

Welcome to westworldPosted Jan 13, 2018
Pros: It looked nice. Free Blu-Ray movie projection for kids in the evenings. Beach was clean.
Cons: Tourist trap - micro-charging rampant. Restaurants not amazing but overpriced. Try less staff with more autonomy, training and trust from management.
Location: Not much to do, Cancun is a man-made tourist trap with little natural beauty. Base yourself in much nicer Tulum resorts and take tours to sites.
Very disappointed with Marriott Cancun Resort. While we know it wasn't 'all inclusive', every little thing micro-charged or massively overpriced, and this is not a cheap hotel. 5x the price for water bottle from the store in the lobby, for e.g. Lovely cleaning staff left towel creatures for us and treated us well. Rest of the staff including restaurant staff seemed nervous when you ask them anything outside their script as if they could lose their job if they say the wrong thing. Only hotel in Mexico out of many that left us with this overriding impression. With JW Marriott next door, there is literally 1 of 7 restaurants that serve Mexican food. Lobby is decorated so it could be anywhere, catering for U.S. tourists who want to stay in their resort bubble then fly out. A U.S. style sports bar, a U.S. style pizza bar, Japanese and Thai restaurants, an 'Argentinian Grill'... Restaurants so overpriced, most guests get take-away outside and bring to rooms... Marriott Cancun, you're doing it wrong! New Years' Eve... you would never know it unless you book one of their expensive restaurant buffets... which ironically closed at 11pm! I've never had a sadder New Years Eve than walking down to the beach with a bunch of other disappointed, confused hotel guests consoling each other with cheap bottles of sparkling wine from convenience stores, watching fireworks from other hotels with envy. Even New Years Day morning, neighboring hotel had a Mayan traditional costumed dance. Avoid.

Nice hotel with beach accessPosted Jan 13, 2018
My only complain is that hotel tries to nickel and dime you by not offering free WiFi . Also I’m accustomed to getting breakfast included. I think they should just include all this item on the hotel price per night. It’s customers like to hear what they are getting included not what they will be charged extra for.

Vacation with sons.Posted Jan 12, 2018
Pros: Location and friendly staff. Nice beach and pool.
Cons: Slow elevators.
We had numerous problems leaving Maine (delayed two days) because of weather but German (Marriott Manager) made everything right. He was able to honor the same rate and actually upgraded us into an Ocean view room. The room was comfortable and the staff was amazing. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in a great location with a great beach. We also took a number of day trips from the centrally located hotel.

The hotel was very nice. The pool and jacuzzi were a good size. The staff was helpful. There were multiple individuals in the hotel to help organize tours. I suggest going through the expedia people. They had decent prices and offered a great tour. The rooms were great. There is an extra $25 a day hotel fee that wasn't included in the price. The breakfast was very good. Definitely, worth the extra money. There was also easy access to a bus stop that goes to the main strip where coco bongo is. There was a restaurant at the end of the strip called Mextreme. I actually thought it was really good. The beach was windy in January but had clear water. All in all a good all around hotel for a reasonable price.
